I decided to make a video on why I chose to do Micro Ring Loop Extensions on myself and how to do them. I also included some tips which I hope people will find useful…

This video talks about what you will need to do them yourself, including a short demo of myself applying one of the strands to my hair, removing it and adjustment. It also talks about the hair colour choices I chose and mixing colours.

I didn’t film my initial application as there was no way I could find to film it and stay in shot, I did however take photos as I went a long which I will post below…

Micro Ring Loop Extensions

I purchased 2 sets of hair, each set was 50 strands and each strand was 0.5g weight;

The #613 in 20″ was from Ebay, the seller was premium*hair*extensions09 and it cost £17.99

The #22 in 14″ was from ClipHair and cost £19.99

Quality wise at present I would say there is very little difference between them although the #613 does feel better. They have been washed (I used a clarifying shampoo to remove silicones) and conditioned, but at present I am favouring the ebay ones!

Application took about 2 hours give or take. I wasn’t doing them in a rush and was bopping along to some tunes Mark was playing, plus ate lunch and had the engineer come out to fix our broadband (Please note, he didn’t manage to fix it – grrr!) in that time. I personally feel I could have done them a lot faster, but it was a relaxed day and there was no rush.

After application you are recommended straightening the hair and then cutting them. This is after straightening before I cut them.

After I had applied them and straightened them (Pre-cutting), I admit I did wonder what it would be like to do a full head. However, that idea was completely quashed that evening when it came to going to sleep as I sleep on my side. It is slightly uncomfortable for the first night as you aren’t used to laying on the rings. It isn’t painful, just uncomfortable. Come the following evening I was fine. I don’t think I could be bothered with a full head, who knows maybe I’ll give it a go at some point!

When you have applied and straightened them you should give them a trim. DO NOT blunt cut them, this shows every flaw and if you do have a few start to slip without realising its going to stick out like a sore thumb! I recommend cutting them with your scissors going in an ‘upwards’ manor rather than blunt and straight across. Its a softer finish, like feathering.

As I stated in the video, I am NOT trained in hair extension application. I followed instructions online from various web pages and also some demonstration videos. I did not go into this lightly, I have been researching it for about a month and wanted to make sure I was making the right decision before application.

I am not saying these would be an idea choice for everyone, I also have NOT done a full head, this is one of the few partial head applications/reviews available on Youtube.

If you do have any questions, please feel free to leave a comment and I’ll do my best to answer. All the products used were purchased with my own money, this is not a sponsored video. I will do another follow up video shortly and a maintenance video too when I alter them at the 4 week mark.

Lots of Love,

Mel xxxx
