Good morning everyone, I thought today I would share with you my 2 week update of how I am doing on the Weight Away diet.

Weight Away Diet Scales

Monday is my weigh in day for me on Weight Away as its the day I started the diet on, although I wasn’t really looking forward to it this morning. Not because I’ve been exceptionally naughty or anything. No, its that time of the month for me which means I’m bloated, my trousers which are usually looser feel tight and I have stomach cramps. Not really a good combination. Still I decided when I started this diet I would still weigh myself weekly regardless.

On the scales today I lost 1lb. Now, this is really disappointing for me. I know when I have my period I usually gain a good 2-3lb so chances are I have actually lost more than 1lb, but still it did dampen my spirits a little. So, in total now I have lost 4lb now in 2 weeks.

Mark and me also had a bit of a challenge on Saturday too. It was our first time eating out and not at our home, which meant we couldn’t stick to the weight away diet plan. This wasn’t too bad as I took into account all the things the booklet says about portion size etc and we were just careful. As it was only lunch at my Nan’s home we both have sandwiches with ham and some salad. I felt this would be ok and I don’t think was a bad lunch choice considering we could have had sausage rolls, crisps and cakes like the children.

I have always walked a lot and enjoy it (Otherwise I probably wouldn’t walk everywhere!), but have been encouraging Mark to walk most evenings too. We have been going out with the children sometimes on their bikes, or just getting them to walk with us too. We also both have ‘Fitbits’ which are absolutely brilliant!

We can’t actually get competitive with each other which is a shame (I walk far more than Mark does because of his job etc), but we can get competitive with ourselves over how far we’ve walked or how many steps. So, far my biggest day was last Thursday which I have screen captured to show you…

fitbit workoutIt really is quite fun to be competitive with yourself and personally I think adds an element of fun into working out, especially if you find it hard or a chore. The Fitbit Zip costs £49.99 and comes in 4 different colours, which isn’t cheap really for a pedometer, but with the added web support, it being wireless and being able to add your Fitbit friends it is a good investment.

I thought I would share with you an average day on Weight Away, so you can see what its like. Please note though, there is lots of different meals to choose from and this is just an average of what you could have – also I am on the 1500 calorie diet (Although, never seem to eat anywhere near it)….

Breakfast - Apple and Cinnamon Rice with an apple or dried fruit

Dinner/Tea - Salmon with Spinach in Tomato Sauce with Steamed Vegetables

As you can see, that’s quite a bit of food. I also sometimes have 2 rice cakes rather than the banana with my lunch and often with have my breakfast without the apple, but will have the apple about 10/10:30 or a few piece of dried fruit with a cup of tea to help with the ‘sweet/biscuit’ craving. You can also have a small roll or a slice of bread at lunch, I honestly don’t find I need this and prefer to try and not have bread. As long as you stick to the guidelines, you really don’t go hungry.

I will do another update soon and will get Mark to give me his weight this week, he has lost more than me so far I’m sure!
