My skin has been crazy of late so I was interested to try the Super Facialist Retinol+ Anti-Ageing range. At a reasonable price with good claims I was wanted to see if it worked.
In the Super Facialist Rentinol+ range there are 3 products; Anti-ageing Day Cream, Anti-Ageing Night Cream and Anti-Ageing Restoring Serum. This was my first time using the brand so my expectations weren’t huge, but I had heard good things about them (On my current skin care shopping list is their Miracle Makeover Facial Oil which I’ve been wanting to try for some time). I was also interested as even sensitive skin types can use them (Hello? Psoriasis sufferer here!).
Here is a little info on the Retinol+Anti-Ageing Day Cream…
Formulated for maximum performance, this anti-ageing day cream combines a Retinol derived active, known to help accelerate skin cell renewal, with hydrating Hyaluronic Acid, moisturising Shea Butter and anti-oxidant rich White Tea extract. Fortified with a high-tech active ingredient derived from white lupin seeds, it also helps to give skin improved firmness and elasticity. With daily use, skin starts looking healthier, smoother and feeling rejuvenated. *source*
I really enjoyed using this day cream. Unlike many I find they can be too heavy, don’t absorb very well or even worse, doesn’t sit well under my make up. This moisturiser ticked all the boxes for me except one – no SPF. Other than that I really like it. My skin feels hydrated and plumped up, plus even more pores look less defined (Always a good thing). I found I had to leave it a good 5 minutes before make up application, but it didn’t effect anything as long as I did that. With my psoriasis I didn’t have any flares ups at all, but did notice the broken/cracked skin around my nose was initially a little sore. This only lasted maybe a few minutes after I applied the cream and then there was no issue. This day cream has a light fragrance which is really lovely.
Here is a litte info about the Retinol+Anti-Ageing Night Cream…
Wake up to smoother, healthier-looking skin. A unique anti-ageing treatment cream designed to work through the night – when skin is believed to be most receptive – to help smooth and reduce the appearance of wrinkles and fine lines.
Enriched with a Retinol derived active, known to encourage cell turnover in the top layer of the skin, Hyaluronic Acid and a proven collagen boosting active, to target wrinkles and lack of firmness and give skin renewed youth. As a result, skin looks and feels rejuvenated and more beautiful. *source*
The night cream feels really luxurious on my skin. Many night creams have that ‘slippery/heavy’ feeling about them which I don’t like. I like a night cream that absorbs well, leaves me feeling super hydrated and is comfortable on my skin. The Retinol+ Anti-Ageing Night Cream does just that. You don’t need a lot of product to get good coverage over your face and neck. In the morning my skin looks great. Super hydrated, plump and more youthful. This product has been a huge favourite for me while using it and is one I definitely feel you need to try from the range. Again the fragrance with this is light and it did not effect my sensitive skin at all.
Here is a little info about the Retinol+ Anti-Ageing Restoring Serum…
Let your skin be renewed with this powerful serum combining age-fighting ingredients with effective antioxidants and Vitamin E. The exclusive synergy of Retinol with hydrating Hyaluronic Acid and a patented collagen boosting active helps skin to regain over time firmness, elasticity and radiance. Antioxidants Apricot and White Tea further help super charge your skin with renewed vitality. *source*
I always have a mixed feeling when it comes to serums. I usually prefer a facial oil as my skin is fairly dry and some serums can dry me out further. However, I do feel the reason my makeup has been going on smoother has a lot to do with this serum. The fragrance is slightly stronger than the day and night cream but still not overpowering. The gel like serum glides on smoothly and absorbs quickly. You aren’t left with that silicon feel on your skin. I do feel my skin looked fresher after using this (I always applied it under the Day Cream), but didn’t see any other benefits. I do feel though that these products all work in conjunction with each other and this step is needed to get the full benefits.
I’ve been using the Super Facialist Retinol+ Anti-Ageing range for 2 weeks now, so although I can’t talk too much about whether the products do work from an anti-ageing point, I can tell you what they’ve done for my skin.
- My skin is more hydrated. I do still have some dry patches (Mainly where my psoriasis is or around my nose from allergies)
- My skin is definitely plumper
- I have only a few fine lines, but have noticed that they are no where near as noticeable
- My skin looks youthful each morning after using the Night Cream
Retinol speeds up cell turnover which means that it facilitates skin renewal. It helps to rejuvenate the skin and leaves it firmer and smoother. When used for prolonged amounts of time this can cause issues as the skin can become thinner. With that in mind, Super Facialist do state that they recommend you only use this product for 6-8 weeks twice a year. *source*
Over all, I’ve been fairly impressed with my skin and its appearance while using the Super Facialist Retinol+ Anti-ageing range. My skin definitely looks much better, almost like its shed that ‘winter skin’ look. I’d have liked to see was an eye cream in this range. While reviewing these products I’ve used my usual eye cream but I do like to generally use products all from the same brand and range. Price wise I feel they are quite reasonable and a little product seems to go a long way. Using these products has left me with a good impression of the brand and I can say wholeheartedly that this won’t be the last time you see Super Facialist on this blog!
You can purchase the range of Super Facialist products at Boots stores and Boots.com. The Retinol+ Anti-Ageing range starts at £16.99 for the Restoring Serum and then £19.99 each for the Day and Night Cream.
