Spotlight/Review: Ahava Skin Loving Mineral Makeup For Your Complexion

If there is one item where make up is concerned women spend money, its their foundation. But with so many on the market designed for so many different types of skin it can be hard finding the right one for you. I have a huge collection of different bases for my face, many I’ve bought and used once as I had a reaction because of my sensitive eczema/psoriasis prone skin.

Ahava Mineral Make-Up

Brands which specialise in sensitive skin are often a little more expensive, but well worth looking at if you do have skin that is prone to reactions. Today I would like to spotlight one of my favourite brands, Ahava and their Mineral makeup foundations available for the face. I’ve also got 2 products to share with you that I’ve tried on my skin too.

Light Foundation

Deadsea Algae Light Foundation – 30ml £18.75 Available in 4 shades

This light virtually weightless foundation provides skin with an even, oil-free matt finish while minimising the appearance of pores and imperfections.

Tinted by minerals and contains no oils, allows for long-lasting colour that strays true all day.

This foundation would be perfect for Summer when you only want a medium/light coverage. I also feel it would be great on younger skin emphasising their natural complexion. Perfect for skin that is Oily to Normal.

Deadsea Algae Rich Foundation – 30ml £22.00 Available in 4 shades

This rich foundation contains light-reflecting properties to diminish the appearance of fine lines, wrinkles, and hyperpigmentation.

Free of oils and dyes and made with soft focus technology, this makeup looks as good on you as it is for you.

The foundation gives extremely good coverage. I would class this as a medium to heavy coverage which you can build up very easily. The foundation goes on extremely smoothly leaving your skin with a glowing, radiant finish. My skin felt hydrated after use and didn’t look dry at all. The product is designed for normal to dry skin, so if you do have oily skin I would probably avoid as you may look too shiny. It also helps to fade out wrinkles and fine lines which I agree with too. My frown lines were definitely minimised. The Rich Foundation comes in 4 shades, I chose ‘Clay’ which is listed as a medium skin tone. If you fake tan regularly or have a medium complexion I think this will be the shade for you. Its quite a warm with my complexion too, but not orange toned like some foundations can be. Over all, I was extremely impressed and had no reactions to this product what to ever.

Loose Powder

Deadsea Algae Loose Powder – 5g £18.75. Available in 3 shades

This lightweight powder works as a foundation and is perfect for any skin type. Use it alone for a thin veil of mineral makeup or over liquid foundation for fuller coverage.

Tinted by minerals and contains no oils, allows for long-lasting color that strays true all day. Ideal for neutralizing skin surface redness.

I love loose powder as it can be used alone (For a light coverage) or to set your makeup (For a fuller coverage and to help make your makeup last longer). Although 5g of product sounds very small, you only need a very small amount. I find applying this with a ‘buffing’ brush means you can get a heavier coverage, or for a lighter coverage a face/complexion brush is good (The Skin Loving Brush from Ahava is great for this). This product gives a semi-matt finish and is suitable for all skin types.

Compact Pressed Powder

Deadsea Algae Compact Powder – 9g £18.75. Available in 4 shades

This weightless blend of natural pigments and age-defying Dunaliella algae minimizes the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles, while providing light coverage with a natural finish. Perfect for any skin type.

Tinted by minerals and contains no oils, allows for long-lasting color that strays true all day

Compact Pressed Powder

Compact powder is great for setting your makeup and taking it with you for touch up throughout the day. I found if you want a light coverage, you could wear this pressed powder alone but it worked amazingly well over the top of the Rich Foundation and made it last throughout the day. The finish is classed as ‘natural’ but I would say its more of a matt finish. Its designed to be used on all skin types, I didn’t have any reaction at all to this product even when applied directly onto my eczema areas. Another plus point with this compact is the handy mirror and sponge inside, this makes touch ups throughout the day easier. The compact is also very secure so unlikely to open when in your hand bag. I chose the shade ‘Clay’ which is designed for medium skin tones and it matched my skin perfectly.

Over all, I think there is something for everyone in the skin-loving mineral range from Ahava, their products are really amazing. This was my first time using their makeup range, I have done a few posts before on other products (Reviews here) and always been extremely impressed with the results.

Lots of Love,
