SheaMoisture is one of those brands I often see or hear about, but have never tried. I bought my daughter the Coconut and Hibiscus range for her super curly hair and she loved it. But never thought of trying it on my own hair. When asked if I’d like to test out the SheaMoisture Fruit Fusion Coconut Water range of course I jumped at the chance and share my thoughts.
Here is some information on the range…
The Fruit Fusion Coconut Water range, contains a potent concoction of super moisturising lightweight ingredients that penetrate the cuticles to moisturise within, rather than weigh the hair down by sitting on top. Perfect for fine, wavy or afro hair types, SheaMoisture Fruit Fusion Coconut Water Collection is enriched with good-for-you ingredients that energize and recharge lifeless hair with a nutrient-rich boost of weightless hydration with the following luscious ingredients:
- 100% Pure Coconut Water: Hydrates and replenishes hair with vitamins and minerals
- Fruit Fusion: Anti-oxidant-rich blend of fresh Dragon fruit, Lychee Berry and Green Apple Extracts infused with coconut water.
- Imbe Oil: Light and easily absorbed, this Vitamin C-rich oil helps to protect against free radicals.
- Certified Organic Shea Butter: Nourishes skin with intense hydration and reparative fatty acids.
I think we all know the benefits of coconut oil for our hair. But sometimes it can be a little heavy, especially for those with fine hair. As I’ve gotten older (I am 43 now) my hair has thinned somewhat. Although its fairly full still, some things can really weigh it down and make it look lifeless. Coconut water is great for hair that needs the hydration and to put condition back into your hair. But without that heavy weight to make it look flat. The Fruit Fusion Coconut Water range from SheaMoisture also contains other great ingredients that are going to help soften your hair and add vitality, plus vitamins and nutrients to help make your hair look and feel better. I have been trying three products from the Fruit Fusion Coconut Water range for the past few weeks, so I could give you a thorough review.
Fruit Fusion Coconut Water shampoo is a high quality shampoo with a reasonable price tag, which is a Sulphate Free. I found this lathered up lovely on my hair. The scent is refreshing and heady while you wash your hair, but only mildly lingers after. After one wash I found my hair carried that mild scent, plus felt clean and soft. The shampoo boasts its colour safe too. I was dubious as I had only just lightened my hair again and its not the best for holding my toner. But I was pleasantly surprised to find my toner stayed put in my hair and didn’t fade as fast while using this shampoo. So another win win in my books..
Conditioning your hair is a must and the Fruit Fusion Coconut Water Creme Rinse is the matching product in this range. It has the same lovely scent as the shampoo with a pump action bottle. Great for distributing just what you need. I found two pumps was enough to condition my mid lengths and ends. A couple of minutes tops with this conditioner was enough. What I really loved about this conditioner was how light it was on my hair. My hair felt so soft after. But more than that, it had body and no lank feeling. This volume also seemed to last a couple of days which took me through to my next hair wash. The conditioner also comes in 384ml is very light/runny in consistency but concentrated. I feel it would last well and be a good investment for your hair.
Lastly I tried out the Fruit Fusion Coconut Masque which is a deep conditioning treatment. Generally as a rule of thumb I will use a mask on my hair once a week. Spite being abused and lightened, my hair is in fairly good condition. After using the shampoo and conditioner from SheaMoisture for a week I honestly didn’t feel I needed the mask! My hair felt amazing and wasn’t dry or lank at all. Even my ends which were in need of a trim looked better! After ten days I thought I’d give it a try anyway and was surprised with the results.
The hair mask smells just as amazing as the shampoo and conditioner. I washed my hair with the shampoo first, towel dried then applied the mask much like I normally would. The mask states to leave it for 5 minutes. There is also a deep intensive treatment where you leave it 30 minutes and apply heat. I only tried this for 5 minutes as my hair really didn’t need that much of an intensive treatment. My hair after felt amazing! These products had already made it look glossy, but the mask made my hair look, for better of a word – GREAT! The mask is slightly more expensive than the shampoo and conditioner, but you wouldn’t need to use it as often. This mask would be great for those times you need extra hydration or maybe you have a special event you are going too.
Over all I have thoroughly enjoyed testing out the Fruit Fusion Coconut Water range from SheaMoisture. The results on my hair were very good and I was extremely impressed. I loved how my hair felt so soft and glossy, but there wasn’t that ‘false build up’ which some hair care systems can leave. I will definitely continue to use these for the future even. Although they are slightly more expensive than some hair care ranges on the consumer market, I feel the expense is definitely worth it. I would recommend the SheaMoisture range having seen the results on my hair and my daughters.
You can purchase the SheaMoisture range from Boots.Com and Boots Stores. Prices start at £10.99. At present Boots has a 3 for 2 offer across hair care, so I highly recommend taking advantage and stocking up!!
