I love gel nails without the price tag of going to a nail tech. Rimmel London have bought out their Super Gel Beach Ready collection that should see you through the whole Summer.

“Hands up if you’re ready for a professional looking mani without the lamps, the mess, the long drying time! Rimmel London introduces Super Gel, a long lasting, chip resistant nail varnish that goes on with just 2 steps. Coral Queen, a glossy coral shade.

With Super Gel from Rimmel London you can say “yes” to salon technology, without the down side. -When only a punchy coral hue will do the trick, reach for Coral Queen from Rimmel London.” *source*

2 step gel nail polishes aren’t new to the market with many brands having their own range. The formula of Rimmel’s Super Gel was one I was looking forward to playing with. The Beach Ready collection consists of 5 bright summery shades. All perfect for a huge range of skin tones and nail shapes/lengths.

The process of this gel polish is 2 thin coats of polish (Allow each coat to dry first!) and follow with 1 coat of the step 2 Top coat. I found the nail polishes dried fairly quickly and liked the thick shape of the top coat brush. This meant I could easily do a 3 stroke on my nails. It is a high gloss finish which looks bright, attractive and professional.

Rimmel Super Gel Sun Fun Daze 026 swatch

Sun Fun Daze is a bright fuchsia pink polish. A favourite in Summer and timeless (Like a red) tending to go with anything. In natural light (Left pic) you can see how beautiful this shade is. With a creme finish it glides on the nails. With the flash it comes out more neon which I loved. Summer Fun Daze is a beautiful shade and one of my favourites in the collection and one I’m wearing right now.

Rimmel Super Gel Dive Right In 053 swatch

Dive Right In is a light aqua blue. Bordering on neon and looking great on nails of any length. It screams, ‘Look at me!’ There’s minimal difference in natural light or with flash photography. Dive Right In looks great with a tan. In a creme finish it covers the nails effortlessly in 2 coats and has a high gloss finish. I love this shade and will be using it for nail art a lot this Summer.

Rimmel Super Gel Flamenco Beach 045 swatch

Flamenco Beach is a beautiful true red polish. It reminds me of Spanish Summers. The colour on your nails looks elegant, flirty and sexy. I love creme formula polishes and Flamenco Beach is opaque in 2 coats with a gloss finish. Red nail polish is perfect for any outfit. Its a timeless shade and Flamenco Beach will see you through Summer with ease and onto new seasons.

Rimmel Super Gel Coral Queen 035 swatch

Coral Queen is a muted orange washed out colour. An odd shade of orange and one I didn’t enjoy in this collection. In the swatch with flash (Right) I thought it looked amazing. That’s how I would have liked it to look in natural light. Coral Queen bought disappointment to me. Expecting a bright summer orange I felt this was not true to the bottle contents. It does look nice with a tan, covers well on the nail and is glossy, just not for me though.

Rimmel Super Gel Purple Splash 082 swatch

Purple Splash is a beautiful colour! I featured this shade on my Instagram as it was my favourite in the Beach Ready collection. This gel polish seems to sit with a mix of lilac, blue and grey. Truly unique. As a result its the one shade I feel people should buy and I’ll be purchasing a back up! Perfect for Spring or Summer, on toes or fingers this nail polish shade it’s a winner in my books!

Rimmel Super Gel Top coat

Super Gel Top Coat is the final part in the 2 step process. Its a high gloss coat sealing coat which is applied over the gel polish. It does not need curing with UV light and dries in a reasonable amount of time. A thin application of gel is all that’s needed. I prefer to apply 2 coats which I do with all my gel polishes that don’t need curing. I love a high gloss finish and this top coat doesn’t disappoint. The large brush is a good size which is quick and precise.

To conclude I liked the Beach Ready gel shades. I felt the only let down was Coral Queen as I was expecting bright orange and felt it was a tad muted. The formula lasts well on my nails but I do have acrylic overlays which does help. I especially loved Sun Fun Daze and Purple Splash. With a reasonably price tag and good staying power, they are a good investment! These get my seal of approval.

The Beach Ready collection Super Gel nail polishes from Rimmel are available at Superdrug, Boots and some super markets. Priced at £5.99 each with the topcoat also being £5.99.
