Review/NOTD: Barry M Gelly Nail Effects Polish in Pomegranate (Gnp9)

I have been waiting with great anticipation for the release of the Gelly Nail Effects from Barry M Cosmetics. For those who don’t know much about them, well let me fill you in!

The new Gelly Nail Effects are SUPER HIGH SHINE polishes which can only be likened to the finish you get when you have your nails done professionally and a UV coat applied. They are extremely glossy, vibrant and look lush! For those who don’t like a high shine polish, these will not be for you!

I’ve been keeping my eyes peeled everytime visit to Boots and Superdrug – today while being dragged to town by my eldest daughter C she spotted them in our local Superdrug! So I had to buy one to share with you my thoughts!

The range is available in 9 different shades, as I’ve bought 2 new reds lately I opted for the red/pink shade so it was a little different, this one is called, ‘Pomegranate’ and is fairly true to its name. I would liken it in colour to Raspberry red as there’s a strong pink tone but its darker than say a fuchsia shade.

On application I was seriously impressed. I applied my normal base coat and then 1 coat of the Gelly Nail Effects. I found with the Pomegranate colour I literally only needed 1 coat! It was a extremely pigmented colour, I couldn’t see my nail underneath at all. This in my opinion makes it exceptionally good value! I don’t know of many varnishes you can purchase for this price that you can get away with just 1 coat!

Also, due to the high shine finish, you won’t need a glossy top coat. The finish is bright, shiny and extremely reflective. I can only liken this is having a UV top coat applied at a salon. Its an extremely professional looking finish.

The polish formula its self is fairly thick, but not in a  gloopy way. It glides across the nail with ease. 3 strokes and you are done, so fairly quick too. Being such a thick formula I did wonder if it would take longer to dry, but after a few minutes my nails were all dry and looking amazing.

I was extremely impressed with Gelly Nail Effects and will definitely be buying other shades in the range. There’s some really striking colours and Blood Orange and Blackberry will definitely be on my shopping list!

The Gelly Nail Effects collection is available in 9 gorgeous shades. Each polish costs £3.99 and is available in most Boots and Superdrug stores. You will also find the full collection including their other products at the Barry M Cosmetics website!

Lots of Love,

Mel xxxx
