Today’s post and video is on The Body Shop Lip/Concealer Brush. I used the Colourglide Shine Lip Colour in 04 Lilac Whisper too. This is the first ‘first impressions’ video I have done, so I decided to film my first impressions and then do a post for the review.
Here is some information about The Body Shop Lip/Concealer Brush…
This dual-purpose brush can be used to outline and paint lips or to precision-apply concealer.
For lipstick and concealer
Super-soft synthetic hair
Overall, I really do like this brush. It feels lovely to hold, comfortable in the hand and I do feel very much in control of it. I feel this brush although labeled as a Lip/Concealer Brush would work for so many other jobs. Its a great multi-tasker and being synthetic means it will work great with both liquids and powders. As I mentioned in my video, you could easily use this for eye shadow when you want a precise pop of colour (Like in the inner corner). Concealer application with this for ‘fine point’ touch ups is really good. The brush feels precise and firm, this would also be great for ‘concealing the lip line’ after applying a dark lipstick for that precise look on the lips.
Considering I rarely use lip brushes I have to say I am super impressed with this one and would definitely consider looking at other brushes in The Body Shop range. I think its a range many will ‘wash over’ as they associate (Like myself at times) the company with more skin care. The quality of the brush is very good and even after cleaning, the brush retained its shape and was like new again. What’s also great, its cruelty-free!
Although I was not asked to review the lipstick, I decided to include a review here for you too. Namely as like I said above, too many people associate The Body Shop with skincare and not makeup too. So here is a quick summary on the Colourglide Shine Lip Colour.
I liked the lipsticks texture. It felt VERY hydrating and moisturising on the lips. Being someone who suffers badly with dry, cracked lips most of the year I need something hydrating and this lipstick definitely ticked all the boxes there. The colour was a little ‘washed out’ for me, so I don’t want to review this based on the colour as its not something I would have personally chose. I will say, its labeled as ‘Lilac Whisper’ which I felt it was more of a pink than lilac. This will look lovely on paler skin tones I felt. Being sheer and dewy I did find it didn’t last that long on my lips. However, I do feel that the hydration remained. Even after the colour was ‘minimal’ and I needed to top up the lipstick my lips still felt soft and supple.
I will definitely be popping into The Body Shop to check out other colours in this range (Ruby Sparkle and Rare Coral both look more my types of shades on their website). If you like a sheer, dewy (But not sticky) lipstick I would recommend checking out the Colourglide Shine Lip Colour.
