Review: Tangle Teezer – No More Tangles, No More Tears!

I have been wanting to review the Tangle Teezer now for so long and finally would like to share my review with you of such a fabulous product. I’ll admit I was skeptical on how a hand sized piece of plastic could be as great as everyone says, so here is my review on the Tangle Teezer.

I don’t think many people have not heard of the Tangle Teezer. If you are on Twitter you will often  see Tangle Teezer tweeting away and they have a reasonable product range which I am constantly seeing in Boots. To go one step further my ex husband has 3 (Yes 3!) and swears by them. So why are they so good?

The Tangle Teezer has been designed by celebrity hair dresser Shaun P. He has over 25 years of experience under his belt so I think we can say he knows his stuff!

Here’s a little information direct from Tangle Teezer about the Tangle Teezer Original (In Bubble Gum Pink);

Tangle Teezer Original professional detangling hairbrush is loved by hairdressers and used in professional hair salons. It’s a super smooth operator that works the minute hair is lathered and rinsed. Glides through wet, vulnerable and colour treated hair with no pulling, tugging or yanking. Hair peace at last!

The fact you could use ‘this’ brush on wet hair too detangle was the first thing I was surprised by! As a hair dresser I was always taught you never remove tangles from wet hair with a brush and always use a wide toothed comb – this could mean long times spent with a client removing tangles due to the wideness of the teeth of the comb. The Tangle Teezer with its close together bristles works through this process fast. I have used it on my daughters corse thick hair which likes to matt together after washing/conditioning and it was a breeze.

I also found you didn’t get that ‘dragging’ motion as much when you hit a knot in the hair. So it meant less ‘ripping’ the hair out or causing breakage. This for me was great as I am forever doing that to my over processed hair! Less breakage means thicker healthier and happy hair.

As I write this review, my little boy who is 5 has just walked in and grabbed the Tangle Teezer. He has short hair and is not one to have it ‘brushed’. He just picked it up and used the Tangle Teezer straight away on his hair happily. Even with it being bright bubble gum pink (And pink is for girls apparently)!

Another thing I found and loved about the Tangle Teezer was how the bristles felt on my scalp. Scalp stimulation is good and in order to achieve this with some brushes which have ‘firm/stiff’ bristles it can be slightly painful. I loved that the Tangle Teezer really got through to my scalp and made my hair and scalp feel good without scratching it.

But and there is a but (And its a GOOD one!) I cannot express how impressed I was on hair extensions! As many of you will know I wear hair extensions often and they can get very tangled at times especially in the cold windy weather we have had of late. I have used this on 3 different brands of hair extensions and on all 3 I noticed less loss, breakage and no tangles at all after using the Tangle Teezer! I even used it when I did a recent tutorial on a Blake Lively inspired style and it worked great at brushing the curls out and softening the look!

So having a Tangle Teezer in my household has meant a few things;

No more tears combing through my daughters’s hair which also means less moody children (A very big bonus I feel).

My own has has felt healthier and my scalp feels great too. I have no tangles and less breakage.

My extensions are looking better and fuller as the tangles are removed gently rather than ripping the hair from the wefts.

And even my son has started brushing his hair of his own accord.

I have used many brushes in my lifetime; from expensive ones too cheap ones, brands we all know too some you may not have heard of. I feel I have a lot of experience when it comes too brushes and testing them too their fullest. I am surprised that a product that fits into my hand so securely and comfortably could work as well as it does. The Tangle Teezer isn’t expensive in my books either, I have found it for £10.20 inc VAT direct from Tangle Teezer and also in Boots too.

A worthwhile product to have in any household and small enough to be  kept in a handbag too. They come in various colours and also a compact size and a cute flowerpot design too.

Have you tried the Tangle Teezer yet?

Lots of Love,

Mel xxxx
