The reason I chose White from the Stargazer Semi Permanent Hair Colour range was because its a pale violet toned colourant which will tone down the yellow in bleached hair. Thus making it brighter and well, whiter really. It works along the same lines as Manic Panic Virgin Snow or La Riche Directions White Toner (Both of which I have used and will be reviewing shortly). This type of product will only work on the ‘pale yellow’, ‘inside of a banana’ colour. If your hair is brighter yellow or orange, its not going to do a great deal for you in honesty and you would either need a more violet toned toner (For yellower hair) or blue toned toner (For orange hair). I will do a separate post about that as its a rather in-depth subject to get into!

The great thing about Stargazer Semi Permanent Hair Colour Rinses is they are ammonia and peroxide free. These are NOT PERMANENT and conditioner based, so will not cause damage to your hair either. The LIGHTER your hair is, the more VIBRANT the result will be.

These colours can also be intermixed to create other shades, especially the white which can be mixed with other colours to achieve pastels.

Today, I am just using the White though on its own. To use the White (Or any of the Stargazer Semi Permanent Hair Colours) is really easy and simple;

  1. Shampoo your hair, do not apply conditioner. Also do not use a conditioning shampoo. A clarifying shampoo would be best. Then towel dry your hair well and comb through to remove tangles.
  2. Pop on your gloves (Which are provided in the box) and apply the colour from the bottle. If you prefer to apply the colour with a tint brush and bowl this is also an option (I applied it straight from the bottle). Make sure all the hair is covered and comb through. If you have thick or long hair you will need 2 bottles of colour. You can apply a shower cap or cover your hair so it keeps the warmth in and develops quicker, but this is not essential.
  3. Leave the product on your hair for 15-30  minutes. Its best to strand test first so you know how long to leave the colour on.
  4. Rinse thoroughly. There is no need to condition your hair as the colour is conditioning.

As I’m using the White colour the mess is minimal. With some of the more intense colours you may want to protect your surfaces etc as the colour may stain them.

The results….

I did notice a slight difference. My yellow was toned mildly. However, my hair did feel really soft and look very glossy afterwards. I do think this toner works, but think it would be better on;

  1. To maintain your already platinum hair.
  2. Very light almost platinum have to get you to platinum.

The pigment is very pale violet, so will only work on extremely light, pale yellow. I am talking the colour on the inside of a banana, so almost a cream.

The Stargazer Semi Permanent Hair Colours are available in 26 shades and cost £5.00 each. You can purchase the full range from Stargazer Online.
