It’s really hard these days to find good quality products for your hair at a reasonable price. Don’t get me wrong I actually spend a great deal on hair products especially shampoos and conditioners. As I’ve mentioned before I am allergic too sulphates used in shampoos and conditioners. This causes me no end of problems if I don’t use one thats sulphate free it flairs my psoriasis up – making me look like I have nits as I can’t stop scratching. Not very attractive huh?
On a shopping trip to Boots about a month ago I was browsing around with my £5 off coupon off of hair products for something I saw the Organix Moroccan Argan Oil Shampoo and Conditioner. It wasn’t on offer but immediately I noticed it was Sulphate free due to the large text on the front of the packaging! Also with Moroccan Oil being big news in hair I thought I’d give them a try.
Organix say, ‘ Organix Morrocan Argan Oil Shampoo/Conditioner is a unique precious blend of Moroccan argan oil which instantly penetrates the hair shaft restoring shine and softness while helping to strengthen and create soft, seductive, silky perfection.’
Organix Morrocan Argan Oil Shampoo and Conditioner both come in 385ml bottles. They are priced at £6.99 each which isn’t horrific for hair products but it doesn’t really come as cheap as Pantene or Herbal Essence. Unlike most Morroccan Argan Oil shampoo/conditioners on the market though they are considerably cheaper. The question being do they compare in quality to the high priced products we hear so much about?
The packaging is cool turquoise blue and gold. I quite like it as it fits into my white and blue bathroom really well (I do like to coordinate!). The lids on both the shampoo and conditioner lift up and snap down again to close. They can be a bit stiff but I have found after dropping them several times in the shower the lids haven’t snapped off – so guessing there’s quality in the packaging!
The shampoo is so thick, its almost like gold jelly! I don’t know if anyone remembers the old Swiss Formula shampoos but they have a very similar consistency in that they are glob like and seem to run off your hand in one go rather than drip! Having also said that I find you still use the same amount as any other shampoo and with most sulphate free products a mass lather isn’t always on the cards. Still it does leave your hair very clean and almost squeaky! I’m not sure this is a good thing as I associate this with having the oils stripped out of the hair (Much like washing your hair with fairy liquid – don’t ask it was an experiment when I was at college training to be a hairdresser!). It smells fresh, floral and slightly fruity but I don’t find the smell lingers on your hair at all even after following up with a conditioner.
The conditioner is much like any other conditioner in looks; its a creamy white colour, not too thick or runny and smells much like the shampoo slight fruity with a hint of floral. I usually massage it in and leave it on for 5 minutes (I do this with all conditioners) then rinse with the shower. Again after rinsing I didn’t notice my hair felt soft (I’m talking when its wet) like with some conditioners, it doesn’t however feel as squeaky as when you have just used the shampoo. I am able to get a comb through it easily (My hair can get quite tangled) and this is before I apply any styling products.
On occasions I have let my hair dry naturally just to see how it feels using just the shampoo and conditioner as a guide; its soft and very shiny. It looks glossy like I’ve applied a serum or my Proclere Argan Oil Treatment! I have no tangles or matts and my hair actually looks healthy. I can tell you I was optimistic as I didn’t feel it would be the case at all! I rarely let my hair dry naturally from fear of the mess the straighteners will have to take on so usually dry it with heat spray.
The question is; do I think they perform as good as other high end products that are similar? Well, I don’t think you could compare these 2 products to my Proclere Argon Oil Treatment as they just don’t come anywhere near and they don’t have the concentrate of the oil but when you look at the benefits of what Moroccan Argan Oil can do for your hair then yes they are doing a good job! My hair was never this shiny and glossy looking while using other shampoo and conditioners, it has been softer but this is mainly the ends and once I add heat protectant or even the treatment oil onto my hair the problem is rectified! As stand alone shampoo and conditioners go I am quite pleased with them. I know the jury is out for many and some just hate these products but for those people out there who’s hair isn’t seriously over processed and heat damaged (I don’t think this shampoo and conditioner would be any good for people who have bleached/highlights) hair then I believe it would be a good buy. It’s certainly done wonders for my hair which isn’t the most managable at times! they are good value and they do what the say on the packaging – for me anyway.
Have you tried any of the Organix Shampoos and Conditioners? Have you found an Argan Oil Shampoo or Conditioner that works for you? Please drop me a comment and let me know.
