I’d seen so much excitement about the release of Maybelline BROW drama, as soon as I saw it available in Boots I picked up one to share with you what I thought of it and whether it will be replacing my current brow routine products.

It wasn’t until I did my makeup course that I really took an interest in my brows. Before then they would just get plucked or waxed and then brushed through each morning when doing my make up – yes I cringe at the thought of this now! Since then I have always used a pencil or powder and then set them with a clear mascara. Although I know of other tinted brow gels on the market, I just didn’t see the need for one (Nor could I justify the cost when many were higher end products). So, with the release of Maybelline BROW Drama I was intrigued to see if it would be worth the hype when it comes to tinted brow gels.
On first inspection it just looks like a mascara in honesty, or a brown one in my case as I bought this product in medium brown. As my brows are super fair being naturally (Although not at present) a blonde I nearly always choose a light brown pencil. I just felt the blonde formula of this product wouldn’t do very much for me.
The wand is an interesting shape and I’m still unsure how you use the thinner length of it as I only seem to use the round dome shaped part on the end. Its a nice size for my brows although for those who like to wear the ‘thinner’ or more of a ‘high brow’ shape I do wonder if it may be a little too thick – this is something I can’t comment on. Still, on my brow shape it seems to be a good size.
The gel formula of the Maybelline BROW Drama in Medium Brown is a good ash medium brown shade. It does not seem to have a red tone like some brown brow pencils can have, so this was a plus point straight away. It also wasn’t grey toned, which I find is the other side of the brown brow pencil spectrum problem. The formula is quite thick and workable. It is easy to apply too much though, so gently does it is the key with this product. The first time I used this product I applied too much and looked like I had solid drawn on brows, great if you are going for this look – I wasn’t.
Once I got the hang of using Maybelline BROW Drama I really liked the product. At present I like my brows looking fairly natural, just defined. I have ditched using the pencil except on my scar where I draw in some hairs and solely use the gel to shape and define my brows. I have included a picture, but please forgive my brows as there are some hairs that need plucking!
Overall I am impressed. I have stopped using my clear gel and have been using the Maybelline BROW Drama every day. I find it lasts throughout the day, looks good and doesn’t flake. I’ve had no reactions to this product either – my only advice would be its easy to build it up, not so easy to take away, so go easy!
