Unlucky for me, its my Mum who has the naturally curly hair. Mine was always straight as a die (We are talking poker straight), that was till I had children and got a few grays. Now its got a wave which sometimes I chose to embrace. Like many though with curly or wavy hair, there’s always frizz and it can just look… Well, like a birds nest. Yes, many of us strive for that ‘Just got out of bed, sexy hair look’ and can’t manage to achieve it due to the ‘fuzz ball’ on top of our heads. However, today I may have something that will get you to ditch those straighteners (Occasionally at least) and embrace those curls, Dream Curls Enhancing Oil from John Frieda.

In a nut shell this product is a double whammy product. It has both a curl boosting formula and also a light weight oil, so it will mean glossier, smoother hair with less frizz. It is part of the Frizz Ease range too so you know that the ‘frizz fighting’ ingredients will help work that unruly fuzz into something a lot more beautiful.

First Impressions….

When I first tried this product I honestly thought it was going to just be another ‘serum’ like oil…. That was till I used it. Firstly, you have to shake it well to mix the 2 solutions in the bottle. When you do apply it to your hands to then distribute it doesn’t feel like you would think. Almost all oils feel silky and smooth, this one has a texture like a ‘setting lotion’. It feels a little ‘drier’ if that makes any sense and when I applied it to my hair that didn’t make it feel as soft. So, be warned of this fact but don’t pass judgement yet! I recommend splitting your hair into 3-4 sections and apply 2-3 drops to each section. You are applying this product from roots to tip – do not worry it doesn’t weigh the hair down nor make it greasy. You then style as normal. Now, I have tried using this without drying my hair (So, scrunching it into waves and letting it dry naturally) and blow drying or even curling and adding more curls. Both worked effectively, although I found the heat styling made the curls look better. This product is all about the results though…

My findings?

NO FRIZZ! Yes this product got rid of all that fuzz and frizz. My curls looked more defined and smoother. I always have really glossy hair but noticed my hair almost sparkled. It looks super healthy and red carpet worthy – well, wedding worthy then as I was attending a wedding. I also found it help the frizz at bay all day. Even after a super hot wedding out in the sunshine all day (Dare I say getting a little hot and sweaty? There I said it!) with my hair down all the time there was nothing but smooth, soft waves. I think that was the thing I was most surprised about – after the feel of the product on my hair before drying and how it feel almost a little ‘dryer’ in texture, my hair when dry felt soft and hydrated! I can also say it did not weigh my hair down at all and still kept the volume and bounce from the styling.

Overall, I have been really impressed with this product and have tried using it in a variety of ways including even blow drying my hair straight – each time my hair has looked smooth and glossy and the style has held. So, I do feel it will work for a variety of hair types, from wavy to curly.

John Frieda Dream Curls Enhancing Oil costs £9.99 for 50ml of product, but you will find you use so little that it will last ages. I have used mine about 6 times now since getting it and the bottle has only gone down about 5mm! So, it is a good investment I feel. It will also be great for those lucky girls who can pull the ‘beach curl’ look without curling wands on their hair. I tried it on my daughters naturally curly hair and left that to dry naturally and it looked beautiful!

You can purchase the John Frieda Dream Curls Enhancing Oil from Boots, Superdrug and some supermarkets. Its currently on offer at Boots on their 3 for 2 across hair care, so why not treat yourself?
