Review: Eylure Shape and Shade brow pencil in Medium to Light Blonde

Today I wanted to share with you my thoughts on the Eylure Shape and Shade brow pencil in Medium to Light Blonde, how it fares on lighter brows and whether it compares to any high end products…

As many of you may know who saw my haul post recently (Post here), I purchased a few things from OhBeauty, the Eylure Shape and Shade brow pencil in Medium to Light Blonde was one of them. I had seen the brown versions in Boots, but never the blonde so when I saw this on the website I immediately picked one up.

See, I have always been a HUGE fan of the Clinique Superfine Brow Liner in Soft Blonde, but admit that it does have its faults. It breaks a lot, gets used really quickly and isn’t that cheap either (Usually I pay around £13 in Debenhams). So finding something that’s a close colour match and similar for a fraction of the cost would be a good thing, right? Well, I may have found something really close.

Here are the most common issues I’ve had with brow pencils….

  • Wrong colour. Too brown, dark, red, orange, green. Just wrong toned and wrong depth.
  • Too hard, its hard to get a precise line and if you do its then hard to blend it to make it look natural.
  • Don’t last. As soon as you get your brows ‘did’ and one wipe or itch and they are gone.
  • Too soft. They smudge off or blend to nothing.

Now this is why I love the Eylure Shape and Shade brow pencil, it seems to be ‘just right’. Almost like the porridge in Goldilocks! It’s not too hard or soft, its the right kind of ash blonde without being too dark or light or the wrong tone, it blends really easily but still gives you definition and best of all, it lasts on the brow!

Swatched I think it looks a little dark, almost grey but this is not the case on the brows at all. I have always had naturally fair brows. They are quite ash blonde like my natural hair colour. I have tried to tint them, but it always looks fake on me. It’s hard to get a pencil that works well on them without making them look fake, or unnatural. But the Eylure Shape and Shade really makes it quite easy.

As you can see, the pencil gives me fuller browns without them looking fake or drawn on. The shape is there, the colours right and it looks natural. Now in comparison to the Clinique Superfine Brow Liner in Soft Blonde the result is the same (If you look here at a previous tutorial post I did, you will see my brows using the Clinique liner)!

So, you could pay £13 for the Clinique Superfine Brow liner in Soft blonde, or you could take a look at the Eylure Shape and Shade brow pencil in Medium to Light Blonde and pay UNDER HALF the amount at £5.25 – its a no brainer really! Also, you get the little ‘brow brush’ on the other side of the pencil, so you can groom them and blend the pencil better after applying it to your brows – another thing the Clinique brow liner doesn’t have.

The Eylure Shape and Shade brow pencil in Medium to Light Blonde costs £5.25 and can be purchased from OhBeauty (http://www.ohbeauty.co.uk/shop/106/accessories/eylure-brow-pencil-medium-to-light-blonde).

I wouldn’t go back to using my Clinique Brow liner now I’ve found a good dupe which works just as well.

Make sure to check out OhBeauty too, I know I’m raving about them at present but they are a great little company and you get free delivery. My order came really quickly and I was really impressed. They are also on Facebook and Twitter.

Lots of Love,

Mel xxxx
