Whenever I share my thoughts on a skin care product from the Eau Thermale Avene range I know its going to come across as a bias review. You see when you have really problematic skin like me; after years of trying creams, lotions, tablets (Steroid based medicines) and having awful eczema and psoriasis to find products that actually work on your skin and make your skin feel better is almost life changing. I know that may sound a little OTT for some, but for the people who do have problems (Even Acne as that can be horrific too although I think this range would be far too rich for that kind of skin!) it really is true. From the first Eau Thermale Avène product I tried till now, I have liked most of the products and cannot fault the quality or the results I see and feel on my skin from using them.
I’d like to tell you a little about the Eau Thermale Avène Soothing Hydrating Serum I’ve been using now for a few weeks. This product has become one of my most reached for products and part of my day to day skin care regime.
Here is a little information straight from Avene about their Soothing Hydrating Serum…
Intensive soothing and hydrating care for sensitive skin, irritated or weakened by external factors (stress, pollution, unsuitable skincare…). The Soothing Hydrating Serum is highly concentrated in Avène Thermal Spring Water providing an immediate calming effect. The thermal water is carried by liposomes (patented system) to ensure an optimum long lasting diffusion in the upper layer of the skin. The glycerine improves the skin hydration, suppleness and comfort. Thanks to the delicate formula of the Soothing Hydrating Serum the skin is silky smooth and rebalanced. Paraben free *source*
The Eau Thermale Avène Soothing Hydrating Serum is a watery gel like substance
The serum is applied under your moisturiser (If I am toning too; I cleanse, tone then apply the serum and finish with my Eau Thermale Avène Rich Skin Recovery Cream) and I use it twice daily.
Just from blending the serum into my hand you can see it is less dry. No residue is left behind and the skin just feels soft and hydrated.
After nearly 4 weeks of use I would say I have used nearly a quarter of the product. I think it will last probably a good 2 months if not 3, so in my opinion is good value for money. The product is 30ml in size and in honesty you don’t need very much at all when you apply it to your skin.
This product definitely hydrates my skin over night. I have also found on the occasions I’ve used something on my skin and its not agreed with me that if its inflamed or sore the serum soothes it making me feel more comfortable.
As with all Eau Thermale Avène products they are designed for sensitive, problematic and allergic skin in mind and are suitable for these skin types. I have not had any reaction to this product and my eczema is looking almost non-existent (On closer inspection its still there but the Avène products have definitely made a difference to the appearance).
Eau Thermale Avène Soothing Hydrating Serum is £17 for 30ml. The Eau Thermale Avène range can be bought in most Boots stores and online at Boots.
I can never thank Avène enough for the improvements their products have made too my skin. Now I just need to find a shampoo (For my psoriasis and sensitive scalp) and a body wash and it’ll almost be like having a new me!
Have you tried any of the Eau Thermale Avène range?
