I do love the mini collection sets from OPI and the Mini Holiday Stars 2014 Gwen Stefani Collection is too beautiful not too post about. So I thought I’d share with you some swatches today of the 4 nail polishes in the set and tell you a little bit about them so you can decide if this needs to make your collection.
Here is a little information about Gwen Stefani’s complete collection with OPI…
Gwen Stefani joins OPI for the second time to release 18 New Limited Edition Holiday Nail Lacquers in time for Christmas 2014. This seasonal collection includes an assortment of red, maroon, burgundy, and forest green hues, along with shimmer-packed silver, gold and black shades.
The OPI Mini Holiday Stars 2014 Gwen Stefani Collection contains 4 colours; Red Fingers & Mistletoes, What’s your Point-settia?, I Carol About You and Kiss Me – or ELF! Each polish is 3.75ml.
Red Fingers & Mistletoes is a beautiful red polish with a gold/copper 2 tone effect. As you can see there is a glitter too it, but this is finely milled and does not make the polish had to remove. Its one of those polishes that looks different in some lights and almost changes as your move your fingers. Some lights is looks more of a burnt gold/orange and in others a deeper red (Like pictured above). It was the hardest one to photograph and probably the most beautiful in this set. I used 2 coats to get an opaque finish.
What’s your Point-settia? – What Gwen Stefani collection would not be complete without her signature red? This polish is a beautiful deep red creme. There is no shimmer at all in this polish and its a rather vampish one. I’ll be honest though and say I would have rathered they put in ‘In A Holidaze’ instead as I prefer that shade. Still, this is really beautiful and perfect for Christmas and festive nails. 2 coats for an opaque finish like with most OPI polishes and it lasts well too.
I Carol About You – Wowzers, wowzers Cavey! This polish is too beautiful for words. I Carol About You isn’t a blue and its not really a purple, its like a deep violet. Pictures do not do this shade justice at all! A deep purplish/blue creme this polish looks amazing on all length nails. Almost slightly vampish, the high gloss finish and shade are perfect for autumn/fall in my books. This will I will be purchasing in a full size shortly and is my ultimate favourite of the whole collection from Gwen Stefani and not just this mini’s set.
Kiss Me – or ELF! – Have to say this shade really disappointed me. In the bottle it looked to be a deep plum, it reminded me a little of China Glazes’s Purrfect Plum (Post here) until I actually swatched it. Kiss Me – or ELF! is a plum like creme which borders being on a deep rose shade, its almost a little washed out. The swatch above is 3 coats and it still didn’t look opaque to me completely. A huge disappointment and I won’t be wearing this one on my nails thats for sure.
You may notice that I didn’t swatch any of these on my nails this time, this was because I currently have gel nails on and no acetone free polish to remove my nail polish! So, could only swatch on the falsies and got a friend to test how long they lasted. I’m looking forward to getting these on my own nails though and promise to get some nail of the day posts up so you can see the on my own nails with and without flash so you get a better idea of the shades.
Over all, I like the collection, its a sweet set of 4 polishes and would make a great little stocking filler too as a gift.
