I kept seeing the NYX Powder Puff Lippie Powder Lip Cream in Boots and one specifically was calling to me, Moody. So I decided to pick one up and share my thoughts with you about it. I love the concept of NYX products, but do find them very hit and miss. I often feel a lot of the foundations are my aimed at younger skin, or for those who have normal/oily skin. However, I have had a few of their lip products now and not been disappointed.
Here is a little information about the NYX Powder Puff Lippie Powder Lip Cream…
Pucker up and powder your pout! Featuring a pillowy cushion-applicator, our new Powder Puff Lippie Powder Lip Cream goes on mousse-y and sets to a powdery soft finish. Achieve a flush of colour in eight vibrant shades—from warm peach to true red, and hot pink to cool plum—for an irresistible, just-kissed look.
Unlike a traditional lipstick the lip cream comes in a tube with a sponge applicator. I have mixed feelings about this. Firstly it does make application a complete doddle. Whether you are looking for a full coverage lipstick (Apply several coats, it is buildable) or just a flush of colour (One coat blotted over your lips for that just kissed look) then the sponge is amazing. It works well in both applications and I cannot fault the lip cream there. But I then begin to think about waste and just how long this product will last. We all know from other sponge applicator products (Maybelline Eraser Eye springs to mind) that the sponge applicator can mean waste or product stayed in the sponge and drying out. So as I said, I am feeling a bit mixed.
Although the NYX Powder Puff Lippie Powder Lip Cream has a matte/powder like finish it doesn’t last long on the lips. I will say it does wear VERY well and you don’t get those tell tale inner lip signs. I am a vaper and find lipsticks are terrible for wearing when vaping. But found this wore away nicely. If you wanted to keep up that pigmentation on the lips, you would need to frequently apply. I have to admit it would annoy me. But only if I was looking for that deep coverage with this lip cream. If I was just adding that hint of colour, it would be fine.
As with most NYX products I do find the set on the higher end of drugstore mostly. Although the NYX Powder Puff Lippie Powder Lip Cream are only £8. For a lipstick I don’t feel its a bad price. There are only 8 shades in the range which I feel is slightly limiting. But the formula is nice. It does go on like a cream and dry to a powder. In some ways it reminds me of Maybelline Dream Matte Mousse. There is that whipped like texture before it dries.
Moody is a plum like nude shade. I selected it as I felt it was the most wearable one for me (That and I have a stupid amount of lipsticks in similar shades so obviously feel comfortable wearing it). I also liked Group Love (A beautiful red) which I may pick up at a later point. Moody will suit most skin tones from the beautiful ultra pale to the gorgeous women of colour. It is just a very wearable shade. Add to that that it wears and fades nicely and you can’t really complain at all.
Over all, I quite like the NYX Powder Puff Lippie Powder Lip Cream. I found the formula worked well on my lips and didn’t dry them out. I loved the colour pay off, how it was buildable and the way it faded after wear. The matte finish is lovely and one of my favourite finishes if I’m honest. For the price its a good investment, I just have to wonder how long it will last before it needs replacing?
