I would describe the Barry M Gelly nail varnish in Blueberry as a pale, almost a cornflower blue. It’s such an unusual shade its hard to liken it to anything else. I do not own another polish in my collection that is even close to the shade – which says a lot when I have over 225+ polishes!
As with all of the Barry M Gelly Nail Varnishes, they have a high shine, gloss finish. I always liken them to a shellac/gelac finish, or like you have applied a UV top coat. They are really glossy and have a high reflection on them. For those who prefer a matt finish, then these polishes will not be for you.
Where lasting power comes into play with these amazing polishes, I find they last really well without a top coat. I probably get a good few days with them not chipping. With a top coat and I get better longevity – maybe 5+.
Overall, I love these polishes form Barry M and out of all the effects and finishes there are on the market, the Gelly Polishes are probably my favourite and most worn. I love a high gloss finish, I love how the colour is solid and looks professional in just 2 coats. I have not seen many bad reviews on the Gelly Polishes and if I have to really ‘pick’ at them and the bad reviews I have read I think it is more down to ‘drying’ times on the polishes or people applying them too thickly which is the issues and the reason people don’t get on with them. In fact, the only thing that would really make me happier with them would be for a larger shade range – maybe an inclusion of a black and a white?
The Barry M Gelly Polishes are available in 14 shades (For full shade range click here) and cost around £3.99 for 10ml of polish. You can purchase them directly from Barry M Cosmetics and also buy them in most Boots stores/online and in Superdrug.
