When its Summer time I do love a bright lip and Moxie is definitely that. Todays review is on the MUA Luxe Velvet Lip Lacquer in Moxie a beautiful raspberry shade. A liquid lipstick that claims to be smudge proof, long lasting and will fit most budgets.
Here is a little information straight from those lovely people at MUA…
The LUXE Velvet Lip Lacquer in Moxie gives you the ultimate velvet-matte pout with it’s richly pigmented, silky smooth formula. The quick-dry lacquer glides on effortlessly to leave a gorgeous matte finish that is smudge proof and long-lasting.
MUA hit the scene when I first started blogging (I think or it was very near then) and have been a huge influence when it comes to affordable drugstore/pharmacy make up. I will be honest and say originally their products were a bit naff and cheap. There were a few gems but far and few. Still step forward in time and I think now their stuff is pretty good. I’ve been buying a few of their Luxe Lip Lacquers lately and found all of them beautiful. I may do posts on those another time, but for now here is my current favourite the beautiful Moxie.
MUA claim their Luxe Lip Lacquers are highly pigmented and I cannot lie they definitely are! I find the colours are fairly true to how they look in the packaging. The packaging is a secure screw top lid with a sponge applicator.
Application is really easy too although if you are using a darker shade I will say have a cotton bud handy if you’ve not a steady hand. These lip lacquers dry fairly fast and do stain a little. I find a single swipe tends to give good payoff and unlike some matte liquid lipsticks I don’t need to build this one up. As I said, it does dry fast and dries to a matte finish that doesn’t look dry on the lips. My lips don’t feel overly dehydrated when the lip lacquer is on, nor are they dried out and cracked after removal (I use one of the oil based micellar waters to remove them).
Luxe Lip Lacquers claim to be smudge proof and long lasting. They are ‘fairly’ smudge proof but there will be transference if you rub hard enough or have a hot kissing session – What? That’s why you were asking right? I find less you drink/eat excessively they do stay put and can last up to about 3, maybe 4 hours. But they do get that horrible fade where it comes off in bits nearer the inside of your lips.
Moxie is a gorgeous hot, raspberry shade. More red than pink its eye catching and is great for Summer but also red enough for Winter too in my opinion. It reminds me a little of Sangria by Smashbox which they discontinued (I believe) but not quite as red. The Lip Lacquers are great for over drawing your lips and Moxie being such a deep shade works really well if you want that fuller lip look. Over all, I’m so impressed by this shade I’m going to buy some more of these shortly in darker reds.
To conclude the MUA Luxe Lip Lacquers are excellent for £3 and easily available in Superdrug. Moxie is a beautiful shade if you want something eye catching and love a raspberry matte lip.
