Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser Primer

I don’t always like to buy into the hype of products, but today I wanted to share with you my thoughts on the Maybelline Baby Skin and whether it does do what it says on the tin (Or tube in this case)…

Maybelline Baby Skin Primer

Now if you are a #bblogger or you like watching beauty gurus on Youtube you will know that Baby Skin from Maybelline is a VERY talked about product. Some liken it to POREfessional from Benefit while others think its a bit… well, Meh! I haven’t used POREfessional so can’t comment on it from a comparison point of view, however I have taken some close up before and after pictures which I think say a lot which will hopefully back up this review.

Here is a little information about Baby Skin from Maybelline…

Introducing Maybelline’s first Baby blurring balm – an instant pore eraser! Enriched with insta-blur technology, this clear formula instantly transforms the look of your skin. Skin feels smoother, softer, and appears more refined.

In addition to this, Baby Skin is enriched with Cherry Extract. Try this new face primer by Maybelline!

Now as a rule I don’t wear primers, I find my foundation stays put pretty well without. However, I do hate my pores and as I’ve gotten older (I’m only a couple of years shy of 40 now – gulp!) they have gotten more like loose change pockets than mild little imperfections! That’s what drew me initially to Baby Skin from Maybelline. I couldn’t justify the money of POREfessional, but this was reasonably priced (And it was part of my 3 for 2 products I was getting from Boots, so even better).

Initial thoughts were it was almost like a serum in texture. It felt smooth on the skin like liquid talc (For those who have had baby’s you may know what I mean). I found a little product went a long way and I liked dotting a small amount on my areas I felt needed it (Nose, Cheeks and Forehead), blending it in with my buffing brush and then using a patting motion.

At first I didn’t think it had done anything, that was until I had done my foundation and looked at the images. I was a little surprised to see not only did my face feel super smooth (Excuse the pun, but like baby skin) but my pores did look, well less. Now, I’ve pretty large pores, it would take a miracle and maybe some polyfiller to fill those babies, but to find a product that actually minimised them was pretty epic!

However, I want to point out that this is only a temporary fix and won’t get rid of your pores, it literally just blurs them. In fact I found my foundation didn’t seem to like to stay on my face or as long when it was popped over Baby Skin which I thought was odd as its labeled as a primer?! But, if I wore a BB cream it lasted all day. So, I’m not sure if that’s more to do with the fact Baby Skin didn’t get on with my foundations (I tried both Better Skin from Maybelline and Max Factor 3 in 1).

So, for me in conclusion Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser from Maybelline does do what it says on the tube, it definitely blured my pores and gave my skin a smoother appearance. It just didn’t really make my foundation last longer.

Would I recommend it? Hell yes! Its a reasonably priced product and one I will continue to buy. I can see this being a HEAVY favourite of mine come Summer when I swap to BB creams all the time and I also liked how it evened out my skin a little.

You can purchase the Maybelline Baby Skin Instant Pore Eraser Primer from Boots, Superdrug, some pharmacies and supermarkets. It costs £7.99 for 22ml of product which doesn’t sound a lot but I personally found you didn’t need a lot of product to get a result either. At present Boots and Superdrug are both running promotions on Maybelline products on a 3 for 2, so make sure to take advantage!
