I was looking for a new foundation and chose the Max Factor Face Finity All Day Flawless 3 in 1 Foundation in Light Ivory 40, probably the lightest foundation shade I have ever bought. Here are my thoughts…
Here is some information on the All Day Flawless 3 in 1 Foundation from Max Factor…
The foundation primes the skin with a flexi-hold technology that creates a strong yet lightweight film which sits comfortably on the skin. Next, micro-correctors within the formula operate like little mechanics to defend against external influencers like sweat and sebum, correcting and maintaining the look over time whilst preventing shine.
And lastly, the foundation formula with SPF20 delivers an all-day high coverage, matte finish thanks to the oil absorbency of particles which helps to minimise the level of non-volatiles on the skin surface.
Now generally I am a fake tan girl, but I haven’t fake tanned now for 4 weeks (Shocking, right?) which has led me to find that almost all my foundations are too dark. I’d been looking at the All Day Flawless 3 in 1 foundation a while and decided to give it a go. Surprisingly I am in the lightest shade they do, Light Ivory 40.
The foundation has some pretty bold claims I feel, being a 3 in 1 ‘Face Finity All Day Flawless 3 in 1 foundation holds like a primer, corrects like a concealer with the long lasting finish of a liquid foundation with SPF 20.‘ *source*
To say I had some really big hopes for this foundation is an understatement. Firstly, let me tell you what my skin is like and then you have an idea whether it will work for you (If you indeed, have skin like me). My skin is combination/dry (Generally dry with eczema/psoriasis and an oily t-zone), I can wear most foundations without primers and they last about 4-6 hours on my skin without touch ups (Unless they are set with a translucent powder, then I can get longer out of them).
I have been wearing the foundation daily now for about 2 weeks, in that time I have tried applying it with a sponge or brushes. I don’t really like applying foundation with my fingers. I find 2 pumps gives me a medium coverage. This is definitely a build-able foundation and can be built to full coverage if you go easy and blend well, otherwise it can get cakey. I generally only do 2 pumps though and then a small additional amount (About half a pump) in areas where I have scarring or a breakout.
Coverage wise it evens out all my skin, there is no redness or pigmentation marks from previous scarring. As for fresh breakouts, it does lessen the redness but I did find I needed a little concealer. I personally don’t like layering on foundation and I like my skin to feel like it can breath, so would rather apply a little concealer rather than a fresh layer of foundation.
Finish wise, I’d say its semi matte. I have foundations which are more matte in finish. It definitely didn’t leave me glowy or shiny.
I have tried this foundation without setting it after. I got about 4 hours wear, so standard for what I do most foundations. It didn’t oxidise nor did I look patchy when it started to wear off, which surprised me. If I do set my foundation with a small amount of loose translucent powder I can get about 7 hours of wear and then need to touch up. I am pretty active, so there is a lot of running about, getting wet (If the weathers rubbish) and general chaos. I put my makeup through a lot, so 7 hours to me may be a lot more for you.
Overall, I’ve enjoyed using this foundation and will continue to use it till Spring/Summer when I’ll opt for something lighter. I only really prefer a heavier foundation in the Autumn/Winter months. It does last well on my skin, the finish is good, it looks good and I feel confident it will last me through the day.
