I’m rather excited today to share my thoughts with you on the new Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara. Not only is this mascara beautiful looking (Come on its by Marc Jacobs after all), but it also has some pretty big claims too.

Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara

I don’t always pop the advertising videos on my blog, but I have to say the Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara one featuring Winona Ryder is something rather special. Can we all take a moment to look at how beautiful Winona looks? I love the fact Marc talks over this video about his Mother. It feels more personal.

Here is some information about the Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara…

Experience 1800% more volume and the look of false lashes.

The lash-maximizing, curvy brush places the most volume at the hard-to-reach center lash line, and the defining tip styles lashes for major drama. The ultra-concentrated black pigment delivers the greatest visual impact, and the flash volume complextm creates instant, smudge-free length and volume in three strokes or less.

Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara gives you the thickest lashes in a blink.

So yes, the mascara is another false lash effect mascara, but instead of a 2 step process like many are these days, this mascara does it all in one go. I know you are wondering, do I need another mascara in my life? Well, I’ve used this daily since I got it and to say I’m a little smitten is an understatement.

The Velvet Noir mascara claims to give you 1800% more volume and the look of false lashes. I have used a lot of mascaras with false lash claims but if I’m honest this one really does come VERY close to delivering just that. You are getting a serious amount of volume and depending on how heavy handed you are you can achieve a great look in just 1 coat, or layer it on to get more dramatic results. I found 1 light application gave me a lot of length and there was volume there too. It looked like I’d use one of my other lash fibre mascaras without the heavy ‘spider leg’ effect. 2 coats of this mascara and you are getting more drama there. You can go to 3 coats and its really dramatic, perfect for an evening look. It reminds me of film noir, classic and elegant. You need that red lipstick on hand and a dramatic winged liner, just looking at Winona you can see how that look really does work!

For me 2 coats of mascara really did give me that false lash effect, there was no denying the volume and length I got. My lashes were hitting my brows which is quite a feet in its self and looked amazing! I love how black Velvet Noir is too. Its a true black. I would like to also point out this was without curling my lashes prior to application! I just didn’t need too when using this mascara.

The formula is thick but not clumpy, that I loved. This also has the least amount of fragrance I’ve ever smelt in a mascara! So for those with sensitive eyes to fragrance, this could be for you.

I really liked the hourglass shape of the wand. Its perfect for pulling those outer corners out to really get that fan effect but just as easy to get more of a doll eyed look which is what I usually wear but pulling upwards.

Lasting power with Velvet Noir is really good too! I’ve applied this at 7am in the morning and went through till 7pm with no flaking, smudges or transfer. It literally stayed put!

Over all I’ve been really impressed with the Marc Jacobs Velvet Noir Major Volume Mascara. It does deliver what it claims for me and it is something I would definitely invest in again. This is more of a higher end product, but I feel you are getting a luxurious product which works. This is definitely one to look at for when its launched in the UK, but it is available at Marc Jacobs Beauty online or Sephora for the price of $26 now.
