La Biosthetique Dermosthetique Hydro-Actif Range

I love to discover a new brand and today I’d like to share with you my thoughts on 2 products from La Biosthetique and their Dermosthetique Hydro-Actif range. Although La Biosthetique have been around 50 years, they were not a brand I knew so was super excited to see what the products were like.

La Biosthetique Dermosthetique Hydro-Actif Range

The 2 products I have been trying out a couple of weeks now from the Dermosthetique Hydro-Actif range, the Tonique Hydratant and Mousse Nettoyante. With their French names, do not be put off wondering what they are for. The La Biosthetique has descriptions of all their products.

Here is some information about the La Biosthetique Dermosthetique Hydro-Actif Tonique Hydratant…

This gel-like hydro face lotion supplies moisture and vitality and perfectly prepares the skin for the absorption of active ingredients in the care products. In addition to the cell-active hydro active ingredient complex of malic acid, pectin and the Cell Boost Factor Pyrus Malus Fruit Extract, TONIQUE HYDRATANT contains a long-chain hyaluronic acid that actively binds moisture into the skin and protects the skin’s surface against moisture loss. Thanks to its skin-related structure, the hydrating properties of the hyaluronic acid are ideally incorporated in the epidermis.

A multi-mineral cocktail of magnesium, zinc and copper acts as an energiser and stimulates the synthesis of the skin’s receptors – to enable the skin to ideally absorb and utilise the subsequent active ingredients. In addition, the mineral mix acts as a highly  effective antioxidant that reliably protects against free radicals and prevents new ones from forming.

TONIQUE HYDRATANT is applied to the skin immediately after cleansing with MOUSSE NETTOYANTE and gently pressed into the skin. The subsequent care products are then applied to the still moist skin – the contained active ingredients are given a boost effect by TONIQUE HYDRATANT, which additionally enhances their performance.

Tonique Hydratant
Tonique Hydratant

Tonique Hydratant is a really interesting product. Firstly, ‘Tonique’ makes me think of ‘toners’ which often dry my skin out, even those geared towards drier skin. I was dubious about using the product and admit that I don’t usually apply a toning like product as worry about what it will do to my skin. However, I did bite the bullet with this and was somewhat surprised.

Firstly, it is extremely concentrated. I suppose the fact it has a ‘nozzle’ should give you this clue. It is a liquid gel which is rather runny in consistency. I apply a small amount to my fingers and press it into my skin (This is best done when the skin is still damp and is recommends using Tonique Hydratant after the Mousse Nettoyante). I have also applied it using a cotton wool pad and found it is great this way too, but would recommend using it as directed for the best benefits.

It has a cooling effect on the skin and has quite a moist feeling. Unlike other ‘toner’ like products this is where any similarities stop. My skin instantly feels hydrated and not dry/tight at all. My skin looks better too I feel, ‘plumper’ would probably be the best way to describe it.

I don’t really suffer with oily skin, but like many in the Summer when it is warmer can sweat in my sleep. This product is lovely to use once you have cleansed in the morning as it wakes me up, but also sets my face up for my serum/moisturiser and seems to aid them in sinking deeper into my skin – at least that’s what I’ve found.

I would definitely recommend this product, it has changed my mind about this step in the skin care regime, something I would normally miss and opened my eyes to a new product. I’m hoping I will continue to see the benefits throughout Autumn/Winter when my skin always really suffers. From a sensitive skin point of view, I would also like to add I have had no reactions to this product.

The La Biosthetique Dermosthetique Hydro-Actif Tonique Hydratant costs £26.50 for 200ml of product.

Mousse Nettoyante

Here is some information about the La Biosthetique Dermosthetique Hydro-Actif Mousse Nettoyante…

With gentle and natural rice protein-based surfactants the light and airy hydroactive cleansing foam gently frees the skin from dirt and surplus sebum. The mild mousse even completely removes all traces of make-up without drying the skin out. It is even suitable for use around the eyes and for removing mascara. As in all the range’s products, MOUSSE NETTOYANTE’s cell-active hydro active ingredient complex of malic acid, pectin and the Cell Boost Factor Pyrus Malus Fruit Extract supplies that extra portion of moisture. The additional ingredient of sugar beet extract makes MOUSSE NETTOYANTE also suitable for very sensitive and irritated skin. MOUSSE NETTOYANTE is applied in the morning and evening. Lather up in the palm and distribute on to the face in circling motions. Then rinse thoroughly with lukewarm water.

The Mousse Nettoyante isn’t something I would have gone out and bought. I tend to stick to very simple facial washes if I use them at all and take off most of my makeup with 2 different makeup removers. I first tried this product after a day/evening out, so my makeup was somewhat heavier than normal and I also had on my heavier water resistant foundation (Which is a nightmare to get off), I didn’t think this would perform that great at all. I applied 2 pumps (Which let me tell you is a LARGE amount and you can really get away with 1 pump!) and massaged this into my skin. I even did this on my eyes and it did not sting (Although they were closed). The mousse feels very light in texture and almost ‘airy’ on the skin. I then rinsed it off with tepid water and patted dry. I was SHOCKED! This whole process didn’t take me more than 2 minutes tops (Probably closers to 1) and 95% of my makeup was gone! In fact all that was left was a small amount of mascara under my lashes which I wiped off with a small amount of eye makeup remover. That alone told me that Mousse Nettoyante was above everything else a time saving product! I can take up to 10 minutes taking my makeup off some nights!

Although this product is great at taking makeup off, there were other things I wanted to consider. One of my biggest problems with ANY facial wash is my skin feeling dry, tight or reacting to the product and getting inflamed and itchy. My skin felt clean, but wasn’t tight at all. There was no dryness and I didn’t have any reaction to this product.Even after continued use (I’ve been using this product at least once a day, on some days twice) and I’ve not had one break out, no reactions or irritations.

I also want to add how little you use, as I mentioned in my first paragraph about Mousse Nettoyante that you only need a little, you really do. I mostly use 1 pump distributed in between my hands and massaged in. It foams up nicely and I find this is adequate. However, if I have HEAVY makeup on (Especially mascara, liner, shadow etc) then I sometimes do another half pump and wait 10 seconds or so with the mousse on my face before rinsing. On most days this product will remove ALL my makeup, however I have found sometimes when I have rinsed if I run a cotton wool pad over my skin with a little cleanser I find a small trace and nearly always around my eyes (Sorry but I wanted to be honest there).

Over all though, I have completely fallen in love with the Mousse Nettoyante. I’d go as far to say that if I could only have one of these 2 products in this review, it would be the mousse. Anything that cuts down time before I can climb into bed and makes my skin feel great is always a plus in my books!
