Back with a review for you today on a range I have been trying, the John Frieda Brilliant Brunette Liquid Shine Illuminating Shampoo, Conditioner and Shine Lock Perfecting Glosser….

JF Brilliant Brunette Liquid Shine

As with all brands I always recommend using products that work in conjunction with each other. The 3 products I have been trying over the past few weeks are all part of the Brilliant Brunette Liquid Shine range from John Frieda and really do work in harmony with each other. I am still breaking this review down so its on each product though, in case you aren’t looking for a complete range and just want to hear about them specifically.

JF Brilliant Brunette Liquid Shine Illuminating Shampoo

Here is a little information about the Brilliant Brunette Liquid Shine Shampoo….

John Frieda Brilliant Brunette Liquid Shine Illuminating Shampoo contains a Crystalline Complex to multiply hair’s reflective power leaving your hair drenched in crystal-clear brunette shine every day.  Its special formula increases shine without altering brunette colour making it ideal for all shades of natural, colour-treated or highlighted brunette hair.

Firstly can I say I loved the scent of these products! Unlike all of the John Frieda products I have tried there is no floral scent, in fact its a mild coconut smell which is truly heavenly! It is extremely mild and not overpowering at all. The shampoo is clear and lathers well. I find one wash is often enough to get rid of the daily products etc and rarely find I need to repeat it. My hair feels clean afterwards and soft before I even use the conditioner.

As many of you know who read my blog, my hair is coloured to a brunette at present (A rather deep medium/dark brown shade) and I have had minimal colour loss while using this product. There is some fading but nothing like I was getting with my previous shampoo and conditioner.

Over all, I really love the shampoo. It smells good, leaves my hair clean and hasn’t irritated my sensitive scalp either. I will definitely will continue using this product while I remain brunette as it works lovely on my hair.

As with all conditioners what works for someone might not work for you. When I first used it I admit I was sceptical. Granted the shampoo worked amazingly well on my hair, but in the Winter my hair needs a little more hydrating and can often become dry because of the weather. Also, I heat style my hair more in the Winter as I don’t like leaving it wet. I didn’t think the Liquid Shine Conditioner would be enough for my hair. I am happy to say, I was wrong.

Like the Brilliant Brunette Liquid Shine Shampoo the conditioner has the same light coconut like fragrance. Its mild and smells amazing both from the tube and on the hair. The fragrance does linger on the hair after, but not in an overpowering way at all.

My hair felt soft and smooth after use and before drying. It was easy to detangle with a comb and there was no matting at all. When I dried my hair it looked really good. It was glossy, shiny and looked healthy. In fact, I would liken it to that ‘just coloured’ gloss you get. My hair felt soft and it definitely looked better. I am always skeptical about shampoos and conditioner adverts when they show those ‘glossy flowing locks’ and how amazing your hair is ‘supposed’ to look. But can say that my hair really did look glossy and healthy after using the shampoo and conditioner together. I still think I would need to do my weekly treatment conditioner which I do without fail anyway, but do think this conditioner will keep my hair looking fantastic through the cold months and I will be continuing using it.

Now, this product takes some getting used too. Namely for this reason (And I will say this only one), A LITTLE GOES A LONG WAY! The first 2 times I used this product I used too much, I ended up with super glossy hair which was also greasy. I recommend only used a pea sized amount, if you need more, add a little more. A pea sized amount though is all I used personally on my shoulder length hair.

The Glosser smells like exactly like the shampoo and conditioner in the range, maybe a little stronger, but again it is a very mildly fragranced product.

The Glosser has sparkles in it which look glittery, but do not leave glitter on your hair

It has an unusual texture. It looks like a clear gel with sparkles in it, but doesn’t make your hair glittery! Instead, when rubbed between your hands feels almost like a serum and when worked through the mid lengths and ends leaves them looking glossy and feeling smooth. When you blow dry (Or even dry and then straighten) your hair afterwards, your hair looks lovely. You still retain that gloss, but your hair just looks smoother. Now, I’m not saying this is like frizz-ease and cannot comment from a curly hair point of view (As my hair is only slightly wavy), but can say it does have some smoothing capabilities and does leave your hair feeling soft.

I really liked this product. Once I figured out how much I needed, it has become a product I use after every wash. Whether I left my hair dry naturally or blow dry, this product is always applied to my towel dried hair. I have tried the shampoo and conditioner without using the Glosser and can say the results were not as glossy or smooth. So, it definitely does work. Although the tube is only small, you need very little and I can see this lasting a reasonable amount of time.
