Now when it comes to quality I have to be honest here and say in all my time of wearing hair extensions these are probably the most highest quality hair I have worn! I cannot express just how soft these and and compared to all my others, the hair is amazing. When hair extensions are sold they are coated with a substance (I believe to be silicone based but do not quote me) and obviously feel soft. However, often once washed they lose that softness (Namely as you have removed the coating). This is where these Hairaisers Remy extensions differ. I had to wash and tone (Silver shampoo) mine as they were a little too warm (Not ashy enough). I used a clarifying shampoo first to remove any silicone coating and so the silver shampoo would take more evenly. Even after doing this the hair was in amazing condition, in fact it felt like I hadn’t done a thing to them. I have since styled numerous times and washed them again and still the softness is there, it really does feel like virgin hair.
Being 120g in weight I was worried there wouldn’t be enough hair there. Often lighter weight extensions will work great on longer hair but look straggly on shoulder length hair. As mine sits just below shoulder length I did have some concerns (I usually wear a 150g set), but these blend so well they actually look more natural.
The ends are tapered like many extensions sets, this means they can look more natural. Being a 20″ set I want to add if you did want to ‘blunt cut’ them and make them ends more sharp you could obviously do this. With tapered ends you obviously lose some length when you blunt cut and I would say you would probably lose about 2″, so they would become an 18″ set. However, I actually prefer them tapered so will not be cutting them.
The colour I chose was SB, this is the lightest shade they do and also the most expensive. I can only image this is something to do with processing and sourcing as the other shades are marginally cheaper in price. I would say SB will work for people who were shade #22 (Lightest ash blonde) or a #22/#613 mix. They tone quite light with silver shampoo too but cannot say if they would be light enough if you wear a #613 or #60.
I filmed wearing these in a recent video and I’m hoping you can see from the image above just how natural they look. Although there is only 4 pieces in the set, being on the larger size scale (I place the 5″ piece at the nape level with my ear lobes, the 9 inches I take from temple to temple and then stack the last one on top at the back) means you can wear them a little different to blend the sides better too and give a more natural appearance. If your hair is below shoulder length I think these would work for you, any shorter and I believe you may struggle.
These have the ‘large clips’ on the wefts and are larger than any other clips I have worked with. This is a plus point in some ways for me and not in others. Firstly the larger clips I have found feel and work more securely than other clips. You also don’t get that ‘snagging’ feeling you something get with smaller clips where you turn your hair and it pulls your hair. I have NEVER had one of these clips come out or need repositioning. I also found (Although I rarely do it) that I didn’t need to back comb/hairspray etc to get them to stay in place.
The downside for me on the larger clips is I found them difficult to work with when doing hair up. As my layers are shorter on top it meant it was harder to hide the clips. If I wanted to do a ‘pony tail’ I couldn’t get them to sit closely enough to the base/top of the ‘mini pony’ so you wouldn’t see them when I pulled the rest of the hair up. Others with one length hair may not have the same issue, but as I like to be honest in my reviews I wanted to make that point known.
Overall, these extensions are really amazing. They are without a doubt the most luxurious set I’ve owned and I don’t just mean because of their price. I can’t get over the hair quality at all, it really is like my daughters virgin hair but softer! I’m so glad I was sent these too try and I feel well and truly spoilt wearing them, my hair looks amazing and it feels it too!
I’ll shortly be doing some tutorials using these extensions, so make sure to keep an eye out for them!
