I promised I would get a post up as soon as I could on the Essence Colour & Go Nail Polish in Do You Speak Love? I received in my December 2014 Glossybox (If you haven’t seen the post check it out here), here are my thoughts on my first ever Essence polish and of course some swatches too.

Here is some information on the Essence Colour & Go Nail Polishes…

colour explosion! the huge colour & go range has the beloved gel-shine finish with a highly intensive shine and an extremely short drying time for perfectly polished nails in a flash! the patented quick & easy brush is particularly flat for an even easier application. the 8ml bottle has a cool essence design – with the usual colour-coded cap in the corresponding nail polish colour.

Essence is available in the UK in Wilkinson’s stores from what I believe, although my Wilkinsons doesn’t stock it (Not that I’ve ever seen). So trying this nail polish was something all together new to me. I do love trying out new brands and seeing how they compare, especially when they are as affordable as the Essence range is.

Before I talk about the gorgeous Do You Speak Love? shade I do want to talk about the formula its self. It is a high gloss formula/finish, so if you do not like glossy nails polishes, then step away from these products in the isle – they are not for you. However, if you like that gel look, professional manicure uv kind of finish, then keep reading.

I found the Do You Speak Love? nail polish was a 2 coat jobbie for me to get true opacity, if you are slightly more heavy handed, then it could be a 1 coat. I want to point out this though, whether it was just my particular formula I’m not sure, but this polish is NOT a fast drying polish, certainly no quicker than any other polish I’ve tried and in honesty it took nearly 10 minutes to dry the second thin coat I applied. So, do not expect to ‘Colour and Go’ like the product says. I’m sorry, but this just was not the case for me at all.

However, once the polish was dry it looked bloody amazing! I mean really, truly professional! I loved this deep red shade anyway, but the actual finish was that of some more higher end products that cost 5-10 times more than this one does. So, I was really impressed with that.

At present my nails are a little softer due to the change in season and my diet, so my polish isn’t lasting as long as it used too.I did get a couple days without chipping and flaking though and this probably would have been better had I applied a top coat – but you know I NEVER do that when reviewing polishes so you get a true idea how they last on me.

Do You Speak Love? is just… well wow. I adore this colour. It is Christmas in a bottle for me and reminds me of holly berries. So perfect really and if you do want to get seasonal you could easily add a little glitter on the tips or even create some Santa nail art (It really isn’t hard I promise). However, I like plain nails sometimes and I’m happy to rock Do You Speak Love? on its own.

Over all, I was impressed with this nails varnish. I loved the finish, loved the colour and think it looks amazing on. I wasn’t that impressed with the fast drying claims as I did not experience those at all, still we can’t have everything. I got the Essence Colour & Go Nail Polish in Do You Speak Love? in my December Glossybox. A little search online finds it at the bargain price at Wilko’s for £1.60! So, for the price I thoroughly recommend it.
