It’s been a while since I featured a subscription box and the September Birchbox is rather special, especially as its their Birthday box. So I thought I’d share with you what I got inside and whether I feel it was worth the subscription.

Birchbox September 2015

When I think of Birchbox I will always think of the US beauty gurus. They would always show us their Birchboxes which were packed with Nars and great things that we could only dream of in a subscription box. Come forward in time and Birchbox are now celebrating their 5th birthday! I hadn’t subscribed to Birchbox before, so when I saw they were running an offer recently and I could snag one of their boxes for half price, I couldn’t say no (Especially know it was a birthday box and would probably be something special).

The packaging for Birchbox is much like the other boxes in that you get a nice decorated, presented box with your items inside. This months box was especially attractive as it had birthday balloons on it. I love these boxes as myself and daughters use them for storage. Inside the box was a drawstring bag (This could also be reused as a wash bag – in case you were wondering what to do with yours) and your goodies.

Here’s what I got inside my box…

Laura Mercier Facial Polish – This is a facial exfoliator with has been formulated just for the face, so nice and gentle with the power to remove all those dead cells and leave your skin looking amazing! There is a light fragrance to this, it reminds me of something my mum used to use from Estee Lauder but can’t remember what its called – sorry. This is a great little product and will be a prefect trial size for taking away with you. There’s 11.3g/0.4fl.oz of product in this tube so more than enough for a few uses.

Bliss Lemon and Sage Soapy Suds – Here we have a product which is a little clever. Either use it as a body wash/cleanser or it can also be used as a bubble bath too! I’m a huge fan of Bliss and have used several of their products before. I’ve never had any reaction to their products, so was excited to see this and will definitely be giving it a try tonight! With 30ml/1 fl.oz of product, again you have a good amount for a few goes to really try it out!

Laqa & Co Cheeky Lip in Humble Brag – This is a highly pigmented lip crayon which can also be used on the cheeks too. Its a lovely pink rose shade and feels really moisturising, so is unlikely to dry your lips out. The shade is really lovely on the lips as you can see too, so will suit almost everyone!

John Masters Organics Citrus Neroli Detangler – Oh MY! I am the biggest fan of neroli products as its one of my favourite scents. I was so excited to smell this one and it smells subtle, but amazing!  The product can be used like a conditioner (So apply to wet hair, wait a couple of minutes and rinse) or as a treatment (So same as before, but no rinsing and left in as a treatment). I cannot wait to try this one and if its a s good as I think it might be, expect me to purchase a full sized product! The sample is a 30ml/1 fl.oz size, so a good size to see if you like it and give it a few whirls.

Benefit the POREfessional: License to Blot – Another product I fancied trying for a while but didn’t want to buy it and waste my money if I didn’t like it. This sample is 1.4g/0.05oz, so a good size to try it out with. I don’t get exceptionally oily but do have a few areas which can get more shiny than others, so I’m going to give this a go on those! Can’t wait to see if it really is as good as they say.

The Birchbrush – This is like a mini tangle teezer. It fits nicely in the hand, is perfect for slipping in your handbag and gets all the tangles out without ripping your hair out! I’m super pleased with this one.

Now just looking at the products I can tell you I was impressed and exceptionally happy. The brush is amazing and will be perfect for my handbag and I’ve always fancied trying the Benefit License to Blot, so I was pleased with that too. In fact, there was nothing at all I was disappointed with and that’s really saying something for a subscription box. Yes I do know this was a birthday box though and chances are they went a little more ‘out there’ to make it better, still I am going to keep my subscription for October and see what that one holds! I should point out this box cost me £6.47 as I played their Birthday Bonanaza and got it for half price, usually I believe the monthly price is £12.99.
