I find Avon mascaras very hit and miss. Either they don’t perform great or they make my eyes really sore. Still, I’m a sucker for a new mascara and while checking out one of their catalogues from a friend I came across the Avon Big & False Lash Volume Mascara, so thought I’d order it and see what it was like.

Firstly let me say that I have not, nor did I get after multiple uses a look of false lashes while using the mascara. That’s not to say I don’t like it though. Its just me being prissy over the fact I’m sick of mascaras claiming to give that effect, when in honesty they just can’t. That being said and me getting off my soap box here’s what I did find trying the Avon Big & False Lash Volume Mascara.

Packaging is pretty sweet, I love the bold design and its really eye catching. While we get into the tube we find a medium/large cone shaped wand. I find this style does give a good amount of volume and is good for slicking those outer corner lashes out to give the appearance of larger eyes.

However, with bigger brushes usually comes more mess and I’m afraid as a ‘Messy Mascara’ applier I did make a mess with this one. It was easily cleaned up with a cotton bud after it dried, but obviously if you have a full load of eye shadow etc on that’s not always an easy option. The formula is black, not the blackest I’ve tried but definitely good for emphasising those lashes. I will say that this is a rather drier formula in that its VERY buildable and dries fast on the lashes. However, if you like speed you will see from my various stages of application below that its not really till you hit the 2-3 coats stage of this mascara that you see some good length and volume.

Scent wise, this is definitely one of the better Avon mascaras. Some of theirs smell very strong but this one was pretty good and in my opinion should be ok for most wearers.

Generally I did find the Avon Big & False Lash Volume gave me some length and reasonable volume without clumping. I’d even say I got lift and curl that lasted too. The images are without curling my lashes prior to application, and you can see some curl there I think. This wasn’t a hard mascara to work with and it was nice to use too. I wasn’t in love with the big wand and brush, but I think I can get used to it.

So, over all Avon Big & False Lash Volume wasn’t bad at all. It definitely sits in the ok to good category of mascaras. It lasted well on my lashes, didn’t flake or smudge for about 6-7 hours which is always a plus and my lashes look pretty good too. I think this might be a mascara I love with time, so make sure to check my FOTD posts, to see if I am using it a lot and what I achieve with it. I would recommend this if you want a drier style mascara for volume and like a big brush, but will also add if you are looking for a false lash effect, then this probably isn’t for you.

The Avon Big & False Lash Volume Mascara cost £8.50 and is available from your local Avon Rep or directly through Avon online. I bought mine while on offer and got a load of goodies with it.

Lots of Love,

Mel xxxx
