If you follow my blog, you will know dry skin for me is something I’ve always had. I’m always looking for products to help and the Aveeno Daily Moisturising Lotion and Moisturising Cream are 2 products I’ve been putting through their paces to see how they’d fair on myself and children. Here are my thoughts…

Aveeno Daily Moisturising Lotion and Aveeno Cream

Now before reviewing these 2 products from Aveeno, I hadn’t heard of the brand before.Having a look through their website made me see just how catered towards my skin they were. I have been a long time sufferer of dry skin, I also have eczema and psoriasis and my skin can react to products. So to find a brand that’s designed for dry sensitive skin at a reasonable price is fantastic.

The 2 products I have been testing from Aveeno are the Daily Moisturising Lotion and their Aveeno Cream (With Colloidal Oatmeal). So, let’s take a look at the products and let me tell you my views.

Aveeno Daily Moisturising Lotion

Firstly this product is more for dry skin and being lightly scented may not agree with all sensitive skin. I have been using this namely on my legs, which in the Summer with tanning and more exposure seem to get drier and look scaly. As I do not have any eczema or psoriasis in these areas this was the best place to try the product out.

It boats 24 hour moisturisation which is a big claim really and also states it improves the skins condition in just 2 weeks. Having been using this product a while now I can see my skin definitely looks lovely on my legs now. There is no scaling at all and I am only applying this product once a day (Usually after a shower or at bedtime). I can say this has definitely improved the condition of my skin and am a lot happier now walking about with ‘glowing’ legs and not looking like a serpent!

I can’t comment on this product on my eczema and psoriasis (As I’ve been using the other product there), but can say I really liked the Daily Moisturising Lotion and loved that my skin didn’t have that ‘wet’, ‘greasy’ feel to it you get with some lotions. The fragrance is light and feminine, not too noticeable at all unless you literally stick your nose to your skin. It says its a ‘Lavender Aroma’ which I personally couldn’t pick out at all, but this could be due to my allergies at present.

I would definitely continue to use this, at £7.14 for 300ml its reasonably priced and will last a good while too.

What really drew me in about the Aveeno Cream was that it was designed especially for skin prone to eczema. In my family it isn’t just myself who suffers, my daughter also gets eczema and my sons back is always reacting to products and going scaly. Having cream that can actually be used on those areas is great. Although my eczema at present isn’t too bad, I do still have some dry patches, so I have been using the Aveeno Cream to help those areas.

My skin definitely is less itchy, which I feel is usually the worst thing about dry skin, you itch, then its bleeds, then you itch some more… You get the idea. I’ve also applied this to my son’s back and daughters elbows and noticed the skin has improved and does look more hydrated, there has also been less itching I’ve noticed with them.

Aveeno Cream

This product is fragrance free which is great for those who react to fragranced products. A little goes a very long way and although the tube is smaller than say the lotion bottles you don’t seem to need as much. I find its great after a bath and before bed, my skin feels cooler and less tight and is definitely more comfortable when using this.

The Aveeno Cream with Colloidal Oatmeal comes in 100ml tubes, so great to pop in your bag when on the go and costs around £6.99.

I’ve been really surprised and pleased with the results of these 2 Aveeno products and would definitely look to trying more of the brand, especially their Body Wash and Bath and Shower Oil, 2 things I know as a family we always struggle finding something that’s good for everyones skin in the bath!
