August 2018 Favourites

Slightly late to the game with my August Favourites. I haven’t done a favourites post in a long time and thought it was time (Again) to start them up. August’s favourites are 5 things I’ve been using continuously and love. There’s a little bit of everything I feel. If there is anything you’d like to see a thorough review on I mention please leave a message in the comments.

Sure Maximum Protection Anti Perspirant Stick in Confidence

Sure Maximum Protection Anti Perspirant Stick in Confidence – I know a deodorant isn’t a typical thing people love but I do have my reasons. I’ve used Right Guard for about 2 years. The only thing I ever changed was the scent. But I found late July it just wasn’t cutting it when it came to, well you know bodily odour. I didn’t feel fresh at all and certainly didn’t smell it! I looked about and remember some time ago someone mentioning the Sure Maximum Protection range being good, so I thought I would try it.

Firstly its a cream deodorant that you wind up not a spray. The cream dries fast and I find doesn’t leave marks even if I’m wearing black. I’ve not tried the other scents, but like the fresh smell of ‘Confidence’. What I do love the most about this deodorant is I can apply it first thing (7am) and still be fresh 12 hours later! No wet, stinky pits here! I know its more pricey at around £4.95 and I think it lasted just over a month. So compared to my old can of Right Guard twice the amount. But it works 100% better and made me feel better too. I highly recommend this if you want a deodorant to go the distance.

L'Oreal Paris Revitalift Filler Hyaluronic Acid Anti Ageing Day Cream

L’Oreal Paris Revitalift Filler Hyaluronic Acid Anti Ageing Day Cream – A skin care product that is not high end but maybe should be. I have used the Revitalift range for around 3 years now on and off. Solidly for the past 8 months. I was sent this one as part of a L’Oreal review thing, but I purchased it 4 times before that myself (It was a win win getting a free one!). I need to do a thorough review on this to show you just how good it is.

Not only does it have the long term effects of an anti-ageing product (And for me this really has worked) but it also acts as a great moisturiser and (This is the best bit) an amazing primer! I cannot get on with primers at all. In fact there is only one that actually works on me. But ANY foundation I put over this moisturiser looks good. It does minimise and smooth my pores giving my skin a blurred finish! So for me the L’Oreal Paris Revitalift Filler Hyaluronic Acid Anti Ageing Day Cream is like a 3 in 1 product. I also love its nearly always on offer. Worth the investment, I go through one of these every 6 weeks at a guess. I don’t use the night cream and just use this twice daily.

Revolution Re-Loaded Palette Velvet Rose Palette

Revolution Re-Loaded Palette Velvet Rose Palette – No monthly favourites would be complete without a makeup product right? My most reached for palette is this bargain friendly Revolution palette. I picked this up totally by accident! I needed a 3rd product on a 3 for 2 offer and saw this and thought why not? If I didn’t like it I’ve 3 daughters who won’t say no. But my God, wow! 15 blended-able eye shadows in decent sizes for £4! 8 of those 15 are mattes and the others have some form of shimmer to them. Yes pigmentations isn’t instant, but these are very buildable and for the price I am not complaining.

This palette has become my go to palette most mornings as its so easy to use. The shades in the Velvet Rose palette are all fairly warm neutrals ranging in cream, peach, browns and russet shades. There is a black, it does have sparkle. I find I use this only for darkening my outer crease. The shadows are a little powdery but fall out is minimal. I love that this is one of the few budget friendly palettes that contains everything I need. I highly recommend this one!

TIGI Bed Head Superstar

TIGI Bed Head Superstar – Ever since I had my hair chopped off 20 months ago I’ve been a huge fan of TIGI Bed Head products. Small Talk being my most used, most repurchased and most loved product. But recently as my pixie is finally growing out and is more of a short bob I wanted something a little lighter. Small Talk is great for volume and making your hair soft but not great for blow drying with brushes. So a little search put me onto Superstar blow dry lotion. As with most Bed Head products you do not need much. But I’ve found with Superstar if you do use too much it doesn’t look terrible (Unlike some blow dry lotions that make your hair stiff, sticky or just so it doesn’t move when used in excess). There’s Something About Mary anyone?

The price tag of Superstar isn’t bad either. I use about 5 -10ml when I blow dry my hair. You put this on when its freshly washed and towel dried and just, well blow dry. Sometimes I just use my fingers, a vent brush or if I’m feeling good I may break out my round brushes too. This blow dry lotion gives good hold to your style, but also acts in other departments too. It has head protectant capabilities, smells good and makes my hair soft and manageable. Plus my hair is so glossy too, but not in a greasy way. As you are using such a small amount it lasts ages! I do not blow dry my hair after every shampoo, but when I do I have been using this and found it just makes my short bob look, well better.

Josh Wood Colour Everything Mask

Josh Wood Colour Everything Mask – I bought this on 3 for 2 in Boots with 3 other Josh Wood products. I will be thoroughly reviewing them all shortly (I have the toner plus the permanent hair colour too). The hair mask can be used in a few ways, plus there is a lot of product. But it is also pricey. I wouldn’t have picked this up less it was on offer, especially when reviews for the Josh Wood range are few and far! But I do like this a lot. The mask smells good, makes my hair soft and shiny plus helped sort out some drier ends I’ve had due to the sun. As I said I will thoroughly review this in the next few weeks. So keep your eyes peeled for that review.

So there you have it, my August 2018 Favourites. There are many other products I have used throughout August and loved, but these are the ones that stand out. I also love that there isn’t any high end products at present either. So more affordable for people to buy or try if they want too. All these items with the exception of the Day Cream I purchased myself. But the day cream I had purchased 4 times before and will be continuing to do so. Have there been any products you love at present you think I should try? Is there anything I mentioned you’d like a more thorough review on? Let me know in the comments below.
