I love trying nail formulas from a brand I’ve not tried before, today’s post is on the Artdeco Art Couture Nail Polish in 702 Couture Dark Queen. The perfect colour if you like something really dark.
Having tried only a few make up items from Artdeco, I was really interested to get my hands on their nail polish formula. Their eyeliner (See post here), is one of the best of that style I’ve used, so I was pretty sure the quality would be there with this product too.
The formula of this polish is a good consistency. It’s neither too thick, nor runny and you can get opaque coverage in 2 coats. In fact, almost in 1 coat. It is very similar to a gel formula I found and drying time was pretty good too. This polish has a high gloss finish, so for those of you out there who don’t like that high gloss, uv nails finish look, then this polish will not be for you.
Longevity with this formula and no top coat was also rather good, I got 3+ days without any issues. I did apply a base coat as this shade is rather dark and would probably stain the nail bed, however I think with a good top coat you could be looking at 4-5+ days. So, again rather impressive. Although, please bare in mind like I say with all my nail posts this is based on my nails and what results you achieve may differ to mine.
Let’s talk about the shade 702 Couture Dark Queen. On first inspection of the bottle and even on my nails, it does look black. A very beautiful glossy dark black. I love a good black nail polish, so this wouldn’t bother me. However, if you look in the bottle and in some lights you can see this shade is now black but a deep plum brown, it’s totally unexpected!
Over all, I love the formula of the Artdeco Art couture polish, its lovely to work with and unlike some brands whose polishes in their dark shades can bleed (OPI Black Cherry Chutney I am talking about you here), this polish was pretty perfect! I also think this shade will be great for Halloween with it being so dark and even the coming party season. You could easily add a little glitter to the tips to make it a bit sparkly and party ready or some white/red nail art would look pretty amazing too!
Lots of Love,
