Review: MUA Makeup Academy Professional Chocolate Box Trio Eyeshadows

Every time I place an order online with Superdrug I order something from the MUA Makeup Academy Professional range. My stores still don’t stock the professional range, so its my only way of getting some of these bargain goodies. Hopefully soon that will change, but today it means you have a review on another one of their eyeshadow trios – this time the Chocolate Box.

Every girl loves chocolate and I’m definitely one of those girls. This quad jumped out at me as I thought it might be a little ‘warmer’ than the Innocence trio which I like but find it can be slightly too neutral and bland.

The Chocolate Box comes in the usual packaging with a flip top lid. The casing is pretty sturdy and I am yet to break one after even dropping it! Inside you have the 3 shadows and sponge applicator which I’m yet to use. I still prefer using brushes when applying eyeshadows.

Swatched as you can see they are all quite shimmery but I don’t find its a heavy glitter and more of a subtle shimmer. The colours can be built up nicely, I found these easier to build up than the Innocence trio. The left and right swatches look the same but in reality the left one is slightly darker and really great for adding depth.

As with all MUA professional eyeshadows I find them easy to blend and they last quite well even without a primer applied before hand. The look you see below was applied 4 hours before I took the photos and no touching up was done at all. As you can see the colours have lasted well, still look vibrant and I think look good.

I’ve said this many times before, but with MUA products for the price you pay you get a good product. This trio cost £2.50 which is a total bargain, the colours are great  and lasted me most of the day too (Even without a primer on!). I would rank this higher than the Heaven and Earth palette mainly as I can see me using this trio so much more.

I have to say I think this is my favourite trio yet. The colours suit my eyes and are so easy to build up I could have been so more dramatic but was aiming for a day time look. I love how they blended easily and especially loved the middle shade brown (1 on the right in the swatches) which I used in the crease and over the outer side of the lid. I now own 3 of the trios from the Professional range; Innocence, Eden and now Chocolate box and think I will now end up buying the others. I’m really interested to see how Smoke Screen and Passion fair.

Have you tried any of the MUA Makeup Academy Professional Eyeshadow Trios yet? What did you think of them?

Lots of Love,

Mel xxxx
