My first ever Glossy Box! I was so excited yesterday like many others when I received my email from Glossy Box telling me my box had been dispatched. It did say 2 working days delivery, but guess what… IT CAME TODAY! I think I may have scared the postman as I answered the door in my pjs with half my eye makeup done – not the best of looks I can tell you!
I’m sure many of you are familiar with the concept of Glossy Box. The American equivalent of the Birch Box, Glossy Box is a subscription service where you pay £10 (Plus P&P at £2.95 I believe) a month and receive a selection of 5 luxury miniature high end brands for you to try at home. It’s a good way to find new products or try thing you might normally not know about/try.
There has been mixed reviews over the months since it’s launch on the Glossy Box and what people thought of the contents. As I have only read these reviews and not received a Glossy Box before today I am basing my review solely on this box and nothing else. Nor am I comparing it to any other branded boxes as I feel they each have their own market.
I loved the sturdy box that my Glossy Box was delivered in. It clearly states Glossy Box on it so you know who its from and has a pull strip opening so you know no one has opened your box before you.
Inside you are greeted with a gorgeous pink box with the Glossy Box crown logo on the top. It’s solid, its smooth and can easily be used as a storage box after – I know I will be.
Inside the box is a beautiful hand tied ribbon holding your goodies with a Glossy Box card telling you about this months products and the theme of the box. This months theme is ‘Wash & Glow : 5 high performing products for easy-going girls’On the reverse of the cards is a list of the products inside your box, what they are/do and also some discount codes if you want to purchase larger versions.
Inside August’s Glossy Box are;
Murad – Time Release Blemish Cleanser.
Ahava – Mineral Body Lotion.
Daniel Sandler – Jumbo Jet Mascara.
KMS California – HAIRSTAY Style Boost.
Rebel Nails – Nail Wraps.
First impressions, I liked the contents of the box. The products looked good quality and I had heard of 3 of the brands; KMS, Rebel and Daniel Sandler. I was excited to try things and have a good look through what each one did/was used for.
Murad Time Release Blemish Cleanser is an extra gentle cleanser. It’s been clinically tested and proved to increase cell turnover, help with wrinkles and reduce blemishes and give your skin a glow! It contains Salicylic Acid . It smells slightly sweet and fruity and glides on the skin really well. It left my skin feeling smooth and feeling fresh.
Ahava Mineral Body Lotion – This comes from part of Ahava’s new My Skin Reborn range. It contains Dead Sea minerals and hydrates, nourishes and protects the skin. It has a fresh sweet scent and a non greasy formula which absorbs into the skin leaving it feeling smooth. I really liked this lotion and am hoping that I don’t have any reactions to it as my skin is super sensitive (I have eczema and psoriasis). This is a product I would definitely purchase again.
Daniel Sandler Jumbo Jet Mascara – High performance mascara to give you luscious lashes. One application leaves your lashes looking longer and fuller. I tried this mascara this morning. Can I just say LOVE IT! Super big brush which glides over my lashes making them look longer and fuller (See my EOTD post on MUA Eden later). I would definitely buy this product again!
KMS California Hairstay style boost is a primer for your hair, its a foam to liquid formula which helps with natural movement and also assists other styling products you use, it can help your style last up to 3 times longer. I can’t wait to try this on my hair as I love new hair products and the idea is quite a good one! Its really strange as you spray it into your hand expecting a mousse, get liquid that crackles and pops like Rice Crispies and then it turns into a light foam!
Rebel Nails Nail Wraps – I don’t think this product needs any introduction! For those who love nails and the effects you can create these days Rebel Nails are well known in the business. I have seen several tutorials using Rebel Nails and these nail wraps looks fantastic!
I really do love my August Glossy Box, granted like most people I could say I wish it had more makeup etc but I feel the products in it are things I would use! I love the Daniel Sandler Jumbo Jet Mascara and the KMS California Hairstay. The Rebel nails I will try when my nails are in slightly better condition (As I only took my acrylics off last night and they are very weak at present) and the skin care products I will use more thoroughly when I am sure my skin won’t have a reaction to them – although so far so good! I will continue my subscription with Glossy Box for next month and look forward to receiving Septembers!
Have you got the August Glossy Box yet? What do you think of the contents?
Lots of Love,
