As many of you will know I bought the Bourjois Délice de Soleil Bronzing Powder Spray for face and body as part of my haul on 3 for 2 the other day. I hadn’t tried it till today as I completely kept forgetting to do it and saw it this morning and thought what they hell! It’s a rubbish mixed weather day again here in Essex so a little bronze to bring on the sunshine (At least spiritually) has got to be a good thing.

Bourjois Délice de Soleil Bronzing Powder Spray for face & body

I purchased mine in Boots for £7.99 and they seem to have quite a bit of stock so if you want to try it I’m sure you’ll be able to get some. According to Boots it comes in 2 shades; Fair/medium and dark tanned. But on the can I can’t find at all what shade this is!? I would say it is dark tanned and an extremely noticeable shade I have.

Aerosol like spray nozzle

It comes in an aerosol can which you shake well (It rattles like a paint spray can) and then spray in an even motion over the area you want covered (Remember this is for face and body so anywhere you like really I’d have thought – although not the ‘sensitive’ areas!!). It didn’t say on the can how far away to hold it from you, but I personally found about 8-10″ (20-25cm) was best. It dries pretty much instantly so you can get dressed straight away, less you spray it too close and then it comes off (See picture on muslin cloth at bottom of post). I didn’t notice any transfer when sprayed lightly but only tried this on my face and neck and am wearing a v-neck t-shirt today.

Here is how it looks on my face (Excuse bad hair, its Sunday which means cleaning and roast day)

My arm naturally with no spray.

A Sample spray on my arm (Which is already tanned) . This is a heavy application of Bourjois Delice de Soleil Bronzing Powder Spray so you can see the depth.

Here’s some things I noticed about the spray that I’d like to bring attention too!!

Firstly if you do not spray it in an even motion it is much like applying spray fake tan – you will get an uneven application. People will know you have ‘something’ on.

Secondly you can’t really blend it once it’s sprayed on. So if you do think there is a build up (Let’s say on your nose) you won’t be able to do  much about it. It’s better to spray a light application and build it up than to go the whole hog and spray heavy at once.

And lastly, if you do not cover your hair and are spraying it on your face you will get bronzed looking hair which looks awful! Again this can be magnified if you have hair spray in your hair. So make sure you apply a towel, headband, bandana or something! It does wash out so don’t worry if you get it on something (I’ve only found this of dark clothing and not tried it against white).

Here is my muslin cloth after I dabbed on my arm when I had sprayed heavily. You can see the transfer clearly. So even application is a must and this may not come out due to being so stained. On black clothing it does wash out without a problem on a normal wash with no pre-treatments.

It smells much like the Bourjois Delice de Poudre Bronzing Powder which I love and has a sweet, slightly chocolate smell. Not too overpowering and nothing like wearing a fake tan smell. It also boasts on the can it has even application for up to 1 day without rubbing it in. This would probably be the case on your arms or legs where you could spray it evenly but I found on my face was slightly patchy.

Even with the negative points I did like Powder spray. It is fast and quick, goes on well (If applied correctly) and gives a very bronzed tanned. It isn’t so much an orange tan than a red/brown tan so doesn’t look completely fake but if you didn’t apply it everywhere you had showing to the public I think people would notice the difference. At £7.99 it isn’t bad value but I get the feeling the can wouldn’t last many applications. I have applied this to my face twice and my arm for colour purposes for this review and already the can feels much lighter! I would buy it again, probably if it was on offer and I had a special occasion but don’t feel this is something I would use every day like the Bourjois Delice de Poudre Bronzing Powder.

Lots of Love,

Mel xxxx
