I am feeling so much better today! So much so that when I got up this morning after being rudely awakened by the delivery man (With my Warehouse order) I decided to try one of the eye quads I got yesterday with my Avon order.
The Colour Trends Flirty Eyes quads come in 2 colour sets; Cocoa Eyes and Bright Eyes. I am review Cocoa Eyes today but will do an EOTD post with the Bright Eyes quad at a later date as it’s just too pretty not too.
Avon Colour Trend Flirty Eyes in Cocoa Dreams
The thing I loved about these quads wasn’t just the colours of them, but the fact they were ‘gel’ based. I’d never used anything like that before. I’ve used cream and powder shadows but not a gel one. Closest I suppose I have is the brow kit from ELF with the gel in it. I expected them to be much like a cream shadow but they really weren’t. They were so ‘lighter’ in application it meant more blending and building the colour up. This made it easier in many ways to achieve what I wanted. In future I can see me applying this more as bases and then applying powder of the top.
Once applied they feel almost like powders. Very smooth and soft but they feel ‘safely’ on my eyes. I hope that makes some sense? Sometimes I apply powder shadow and I can just tell its going to fade throughout the day and not last. With these gel shadows because of building the colours up more it felt like they were locked there for the day (And 6 hours later they still are!!).
I applied the shadows with 2 blending brushes (1 for blending, 1 for application) and found then went on better than trying with my fingers or the stupid sponge applicator thing that comes with nearly all eyeshadow kits. I also used an angled brush when I did the winged eye liner effect which was done with the darkest of the 4 colours in the quad.
Here’s my EOTD using the quad. Maybe a little much for a day time look although I still wore it to Pets at Home, Co-op and the library!
I did like this quad, the packaging was nice and I liked how it opened up and when closed was small and didn’t take up much room with my other eyeshadows on the shelf. I loved the colours but was surprised that the copper wasn’t too my taste! When I first looked at the palette it was the colour that stood out to me, but on application I wasn’t impressed at all. The other 3 colours are beautiful and I can see me using this a lot, if not on a daily basis. The darkest colour was great for defining the crease but also worked as a subtle winged eye rather than using black. They last really well and don’t seem to smudge at all but I think I’ll probably use them more with powder too. I can see them being more adaptable that way. For £3 (Currently on special at Avon) they are very reasonable and fun to use. I would buy them again if they were on at this price. I’m also really excited about trying the Bright Eyes colours as they are beautiful! The fact there was a small compact mirror in with the eyeshadows was very handy and I loved the little pull out draw where the applicator was stored – its just a pity it was one of those sponge ones a small brush would have been idea.
Have you tried the Colour Trends Flirty Eyes in Cocoa Dreams or Bright Eyes? What did you think of the colours? Or will you be buying them too? You can buy them direct from your Avon Rep or from the online store at Avon.
Lots of Love,
