Plantur 21 Nutri-Caffeine Shampoo and Conditioner for coloured & stressed hair

Today’s review is about hair growth and a product I’ve been trying out 4 weeks now, Plantur 21. The reviews are pretty good on this product, it was recommend by a friend and is something I’d heard about before she mentioned it too. With nothing to lose I took some before photos, ordered some and started using it.

I should point out that my hair is nothing like it was This wasn’t colour damage, I kind of wish it was as that’s something that can be sorted to a degree, literally my hair that wasn’t even coloured was breaking but mostly it was coming out at the root. This has meant my once nice thick hair is now so thin it looks horrible and I wear my ‘parting’ a certain ways to cover bald patches. My hair has always been my ‘crowning glory’ and it knocked my confidence for six if I’m honest. I have been trying many things to help my hair grow; coconut oil massages, no heat for 2 months, vitamins… Nothing was helping. So I had nothing to lose by giving Plantur 21 Nutri-Caffeine Shampoo for coloured & stressed hair and the Conditioner a try.

Here is some information on the Plantur 21 Nutri-Caffeine Shampoo for coloured & stressed hair;

The nutri-caffeine complex in Plantur 21 helps to prevent an energy deficit in the hair roots. The caffeine in Plantur 21 primarily slows down degradation of the important energy carrier cAMP.

It can be detected at the hair root after just 120 seconds.

An additional effect comes from the valuable micro-nutrients biotin, magnesium, calcium and zinc. They are important factors for healthy and vigorous hair growth.

The Nutri-Caffeine Shampoo has also been developed for color-treated and stressed hair. It contains conditioning agents that repair the externally stressed hair. This represents no burden on the hair, since no silicones that weigh down the hair are used.

The shampoo and conditioner by Plantur 21 are recommended used daily, I admit I probably used this 5 times a week so not daily but have ONLY used these products for washing my hair. The shampoo is clear, smells ok, produces a good lather and is used like any other regular shampoo with the exception that once you have massaged it into your scalp you leave it for a good 2 minutes for the caffeine to penetrate. You then rinse and follow with the conditioner which is left on 30 seconds then rinsed.

I thought the conditioner was rubbish. It left my hair VERY shiny and glossy, but also my ends became super fluffy! Where as I usually will air dry my hair with no product I found I had to apply serum or something so my ends weren’t looking like I’d stuck my finger in a light bulb socket! My hair didn’t feel super soft, it was manageable but not silky.

Like I said at the beginning to this review I have been using this now OVER 4 weeks, I have about a third of the shampoo/conditioner left and will finish the product.

Here are my findings with before and after pictures so you can make up your own mind as to whether its done anything…

  • My hair was super glossy and shiny from the first wash. It did look healthier but without the use of a styling product, serum or something it was very fluffy and looked a bit like Ken Dodd (Not a good look).

  • Unlike some caffeine shampoos (Alpecin is a classic for this) my scalp didn’t feel sensitive. I find some can make me feel tingly, itchy or just a bit ‘crawly’ if that makes sense. Plantur 21 was great on my scalp.

  • Planter 21 took the tint off my hair after 2 weeks of use! It removed the colour I used at my roots so I could see the lift but not the tone anymore.I put this down to the cleansing clarifying properties. So bear in mind if like me you have some greys and you colour them to hide them, those white patches will show a lot faster!

  • I didn’t notice any results until about 2-3 weeks when I noticed one of my ‘thinning bald patches’ looked like there was more hair there, fuller even. I also noticed around my ear areas my hair had all of a sudden grown a bit. Nothing drastic but I could see it when styling. I had LESS hair loss and there was no more breakage.

  • After 4 weeks I noticed the back of my hair which has NEVER been an issue had gotten a lot thicker, I can tell by running my fingers through it.

Over all, I think this product does work but you have to be realistic. My hair on average grows about 2 cm per month. If I’m using Alpecin (Its what my Hubby uses. Please note I believe this is by the same company, the Plantur doesn’t smell manly like Alpecin but Alpecin is for men, so bonus!) I can get about 3cm but it doesn’t help with thickening my hair out or speeding up the growth of the thinning patches. Plantur 21 has definitely helped where I lost hair but I wouldn’t say its grown anything drastic in length more than normal. I wasn’t happy how it stripped out my tint I use so fast, it was annoying that after 2 weeks you could really see my white patch on the top of my head. However, if I weigh up all the for and against of this product I do feel its more beneficial to use than not.

Would I purchase it again? Hmm. Well I wouldn’t bother with the conditioner. It did nothing for me and I personally would have rathered something else. But yes I might use the shampoo again if I wanted to thicken out any bald/thinning patches. For length though? I honestly think mine grows more from no heat, but that doesn’t help with the parts of my hair I’ve lost.

So, if you have lost hair due to colouring, age or medication I would recommend giving the Plantur 21 Caffine Shampoo ago. Its available in Boots (I bought mine on Amazon)and costs £8.99. You only need to use it once daily (So only a single wash, no need to wash and repeat) and hopefully you’ll get some results too.
