I love a cult product that fits most budgets, I also love a good eye liner. Todays post is on the beauty favourite NYC Liquid Liner in 887 Black and my thoughts on to whether it lives up the the hype.
Let’s be honest almost all hyped products are those with a large price tag, often we really expect the world of them because they cost so much and then disappoint (Yes there are some gems out there I admit, but it is like diamonds in the rough). However, every now and again (You know like when pigs fly) you find a cult beauty product that doesn’t break the bank and that’s what the NYC Liquid Liner has become.
Here is a little information on the NYC Liquid Liner…
- Deep and strong color.
- Perfect line, high-precision applicator.
- Fast-drying, smudge-resistant formula.
- Dermatologist tested.

Now we all know what a liquid liner is, however whether you love the formula or even find it easy to work with is another thing entirely. I always preferred a gel liner till I started using the Benefit Magic Ink and then I fell in love with liquid liners. I love how precise they are, how you can get a super fine line and (With a steady hand and practice) a better finish.
I had really high hopes for the NYC Liquid Liner, it is so hyped up by Beauty Gurus on Youtube and blogs it sound like it was the most perfect liner ever (Ok, maybe a slight exaggeration but you get the idea). In reality though I wasn’t blown away.
Yes its a nice black liner with an ultra fine brush (The swatch line above although magnified isn’t even 1mm in width, so it really is fine). The formula dries in a good time and it lasts on the eyes. However, it just didn’t wow me. It was no better than my Benefit one really. Although if I do compare them there is one big difference, the price obviously. You see, the one thing the NYC Liquid Liner has going for it is the ridiculously cheap price tag! So, in honesty, if you do want a super cheap liquid liner that is of a really good quality, nice and black and lasts well then I would recommend giving it a go.
The NYC Liquid Liner is available in Superdrug stores and costs £2.49. I actually bought mine sealed etc from eBay as my eBay doesn’t do the NYC Liquid Liner.
