Its time for my weekend manicure, this time using Essie Nail Polish in After School Boy Blazer (And to hopefully make me feel better, as I’ve still got a flu virus).
Here is a little information about the Essie Fall Collection 2013…
i like to be ahead of the fall trends, just for the twill of it
-Essie
It’s a material world. This fall, a textile-inspired nail color palette piles on the luxe and amps up the chic. Colors take their cues from rich flannels, sumptuous knits, hints of lace and ultra-fine silk twill – for sensuously seductive lacquer looks.

The Essie fall collection in my opinion wasn’t all that brilliant, I was actually a little disappointed. But ‘After School Boy Blazer’ really stood out to me and I just had to make a sneaky purchase!
As with almost all Essie nail polishes (And all other polishes really), their formulas work best in 2 coats. This way you get a good opaque finish. Surprisingly with After School Boy Blazer being such a dark shade of navy, 2 coats is enough to give you a solid looking glossy polish. Please note all swatches of this polish are taken WITHOUT a top coat, so you get a true idea of the finish of this polish.
I find Essie’s nail polish formula can be a little hit and miss – some last really well, others aren’t so good. This one considering how dark it is, lasted really well. I didn’t get any smudges and it was only the ‘edges’ that wore off a little. This was hardly noticeable though.
This polish is ideal for Autumn/Fall for those who love a dark polish. Although it looks black, I promise it is a dark navy. No matter how I photographed this polish it ended up looking like a black polish. It will look fantastic on a variety of skin tones and any length nails.
Essie’s After School Boy Blazer nail varnish can be purchased from Beauty Bay for £8.50 (Although, I got mine from the wholesalers for £5), the polish is 13.5ml in size.
Lots of Love,
Mel xxxx
