L’Oreal Infallible Pro Contour Palette in Light

Today’s review is on something rather special, the L’Oreal Infallible Pro Contour Palette. This product at present is not available in the UK although I don’t think it will be too long before we get it over here. I have the contour kit in light and wanted to share my thoughts with you on this amazing kit and why I think you need it in your life!

L'Oreal Infallible Pro Contour Palette in Light

I recently saw on Instagram a mass of excitement over the L’Oreal Infallible Pro Contour Palette that had been released in the US. Beauty bloggers here seemed to be getting rather excited about it, so I went on a mission to get one, had it shipped from the US and got to trying it out.

The excitement and buzz about this contour kit isn’t about the actual product so much and more about the unique brush it comes with. Let’s be honest, getting a powder contour kit these days is pretty easy. With contouring hitting huge in 2014/2015 many brands bought out their own versions and there is one on the market to fit all budgets I feel. However, the exciting thing about the Infallible Pro Contour Palette is the brush.

The brush which comes with the kit has a unique shape too it. Almost like a rainbow. The only parts that touch your face during application are the 2 ends which are spaced apart. By swiping the brush across the product and applying it to the hollow of your cheek bone you are getting a contour in the hollow, plus a highlight across your cheek bone all in one application. I know, sounds too good to be true really doesn’t it? However, it actually works pretty well.

In the palette you have a matte contour shade and a highlight which does contain shimmer. I chose the kit in light as I was pretty pale when I bought it. Since then I have fake tanned but I can still use this kit to get a more subtle effect. There is also a place to keep the brush, so its great for on the go, plus a good sized mirror. The kit its self feels rather secure too, so is great for keeping in your bag although if you dropped it, I do think it would break.

This kit is actually pretty good. I still love my other contour kits and find the brush in this one does cut down on time. However, I also end up buffing out any harsh edges each time with my face brush as I do prefer more of a subtle look. The brush however is great for apply the contour to your hair line and also getting that highlight on your brow bone.

As contour shades go, this isn’t bad either. As I said, mines in light but it will be fine for those who are pale to medium skin toned (On the medium side, it will be rather light on you I should add). However, the contour kit is available in the States in 3 shades, so should be workable for most skin tones.

Although the strobbing trend is huge now, I don’t think people will stop contouring especially those like me who do it to help to add shape rather than as a fashion statement. I really liked this kit and was impressed. I’ve 8 contour kits in my collection (Without bronzers and highlights I own that are separate) and as a drugstore/pharmacy one I think this one is definitely worth your time. It lasts well on my skin, blends out lovely and the highlight is more on the champagne side, so isn’t too harsh either (Although I will add if you are ULTRA pale, I’m talking porcelain skin tones, the highlight may be a little too creamy for you. I found if I was too heavy handed it looked a little too much). Still, I’m really impressed and glad I made the investment. It can be a little powdery, but as long as you tap the brush off to remove excess before applying it to your face, I find that isn’t a problem.

As far as I’m aware there isn’t a UK release date for this yet so I can’t say how much it will be or when we will get it here. However, a search online should find you one. I got mine on Ebay, with shipping it converted into around £14 I believe and took 5 days to get to me, so over all not too bad. If you like to contour, I’d recommend making the purchase!
