Today is a hot one people! Here in Essex we are in the late twenties, early thirties. At present 31 which is pretty hot – let’s hope all the people at the V Festival here are drinking plenty and have on their sunblock. I must admit, you can actually hear V quite clearly from my house, looking forward to seeing which acts are playing later today (Saturday nights are usually the best there!).

As it is a scorcher today I decided to go for a more Bronze look, really pulling on the tan I’ve already got and making it a bit more. With wearing makeup daily I rarely got a brown face, so matching my makeup to the rest of my body colour can take a little bit of work – still it’s nothing some bronzer can’t sort!

So, without further a do, here is the look I came up with today…

I wanted an ultra light makeup look, with emphasis on the eyes. Keeping the lips subtle, almost neutral and concentrating on brightening my face and bringing out the tan I already have. The eyes don’t look that ‘specific’ in this pic, so I took another shot from another angle to show what I did…

From this angle you can see the light bronze/gold smokey eye I did. It’s really subtle but enough to notice. Especially good for ths beautiful hot weather which seems to be making my skin just glow at present!

Now, it may be a SUPER hot day, but I actually do have quite a bit of makeup on!

Base: For my base today I used 2 products. Keeping my base light I used The Sanctuary Skin Perfecting BB Cream in Light to Medium. I mainly used this where I need coverage and then blended it out so there was no harsh lines. I absolutely love this BB cream and (On my skin) feel its the best one out there! As per my usual Summer makeup routines I like to apply L’Oreal Lumi Magique Pure Light Primer just under my eye area, taking it down the side of my nose and back up to the top of my cheek bone (Think of line a triangle shape). In these areas I don’t have any foundation/bb cream at all so it really illuminates the skin. For concealer I used good old faithful Collection Lasting Perfection concealer (I think this is 02 Light, but it may be 03 Medium. I own both but the label has fallen off!). Lastly, under my eyes to brighten them up I have been using my Benefit Ooh La Lift.

Cheeks: On my cheeks I’ve been trying a new blush out recently from Liz Earle’s Colour Range –  Healthy Glow Powder Blush in Nectar (06). Its the most beautiful coral pink colour and really quite bright when you first look at it. I will be posting a review soon, but can I just say its the perfect blush for Summer with its strong pigmented colour and beautiful flush it gives your cheeks.

Eyes: This is where there’s a lot of products but the reason being is I want my makeup to last throughout the day and not be ‘sweated’ off! To start with I didn’t apply a primer today but applied a cream base eye shadow over my lid and into my crease. The colour I used is from the Avon Colour Trend Flirty Eyes in Cocoa Dreams – the beautiful copper gold colour in the palette. Whenever I layer powder shadow over the Flirty Eyes quads it really intensifies, I wanted to use similar tones as golds and coppers are amazing on blue eyes and instantly reached for my MUA Makeup Academy Professional Heaven and Earth palette. I used colour 9 on my inner corner,  6 all over the lid and blended into the crease. To give the smokey looks I applied 3 in the ‘outer V’ lightly and then blended this into the crease so there was no harsh lines. Shade 6 was also used on the lower lash line over the eye liner.

On my upper lash line I did a small wing just to add some depth to my own lashes, I used my Collection Extreme 24 Hour Felt Tip Liner (formally Collection 2000). I find with this pen you can layer it to make it a deeper, darker line. Just make sure you allow time to dry – I use this pen almost daily and find it lasts really well (Especially since I’ve not been able to by Carbon Gloss anywhere – anyone know if its been discontinued?).

Lower lashes I wanted a gold coloured pencil and the only bronze pencil I have is the Liz Earle Eye Pencil in Golden Bronze.

I decided to really pull all the stops out today on the old lashes as I wanted them to look black, long and defined. I have numerous mascaras that can achieve this but I also wanted it to last all day! I started with my Lash Care Intensifying Mascara Base applying 1 coat and allowing this to dry (While waiting I groomed my brows and applied a light coat of clear Mascara to set them, I don’t know which one this is as the labels have warm off but am sure its the Natural Collection clear mascara). I then applied my favourite mascara of the moment, Max Factor False Lash Fusion Effect Mascara – just one coat on my top and bottom lashes and my eyes were finished!

Bronzer – I was sent a new bronzer which arrived today so thought I’d try this one instead of my usual. I applied the Liz Earle Natural Glow Bronzer over my forehead and nose (T-zone area), tops of cheeks, chin and neck to blend in where I’m not tanned, basically everywhere that the sun would hit and some places it wouldn’t. This bronzer can easily be built up so don’t be scared of it. It gives a gorgeous glow to the skin and looks really good. I was really impressed – but alas the review will be up shortly so you’ll have to wait for that to see what I think!

Lips – I always do my lips last as I always brush my teeth after I’ve applied my makeup and before I apply my lippy – yes I’m strange like that! The lipstick I chose today is Lily Lolo Natural Lipstick in Romantic Rose. Its a beautiful rose pink lipstick, very moisturising and not sparkly. I love the texture of this lipstick and how it makes my lips look really full! I could have gone for a brown nude, but in honesty ALWAYS do this and felt that a change was in order.

The complete look took me about 12 minutes which wasn’t bad at all as I had time to play with, finished off with a muscle vest and shorts and a messy bun in my hair.

I really love the look as its more than a ‘barely there’ makeup but not too heavy for a day time when you don’t want to be ‘caked’ in makeup.

I hope you like my Summer Bronze look today. A couple more weeks and I’ll be back to shooting videos again, so plenty more tutorials!

Have a lovely weekend, enjoy the sun, enjoy the music (If you are at a festival) but most of all, stay Sun Safe – drink plenty of water, slather on that sun protection and cover up where you can!

Lots of Love,

Mel xxxx
