This week I’ve really been embracing the heavier eye and nude lip look. I thought I really should start posting some of them, as some I’ve even surprised myself with on how much I love some of these looks I’ve been creating!

My Urban Decay Naked Palette is probably my least used palette I own (Ok maybe with the exception of the Sleek Acid Palette – but that stands without reason!) and I am trying to ‘love it’ – I’m afraid that as much as I think it has a lovely collection of nude colours, really great for blending and quite pigmented there is a but, I just think this palette was over hyped! I wouldn’t say the Urban Decay’s Naked Palette is any better than some of the other ‘nude’ palettes out there – unfortunately it is by a well known brand which are pretty spectacular (I really do love Urban Decay products) and was ‘over enthusiastically’ hyped up by many beauty gurus. Maybe it was because (At the time) there wasn’t a really ‘nude/naked’ palette out there and since then the market has been awash with them? Either way mine is under used and usually stuck at the back of my ‘eyeshadow’ shelf. So lately I’ve been trying to get my moneys worth out of it and abuse it!

The look I created today was using; Virgin (Inner corner, all over lid and highlight on brow bone), Dark Horse (Socket bone and lower lash line) and Creep (in outer corner – Probably my favourite colour of the whole palette!).

I also used Mac Teddy Liner in my water line and Maybelline The Colossal Cat Eye Mascara in Black (For review of this mascara please click here).

Tools I used; Urban Decay Shadow Brush, Sigma Tapered Blending Brush E45 (You can buy your Sigma Brushes Here) and No 7 Eyeshadow and Contour Brush.

Overall I liked the look. It was heavy enough to keep my eyes as the main focus but also not so much it was too dark for day time and more of an evening look. I definitely want to play with this palette and see how extreme you can go in the evening (Although it would help if I actually went out more in the evening to do so!).

What’s your opinion on the Urban Decay Naked Palette? The best nude palette ever? Or is it over hyped?

Lots of Love,

Mel xxxx
