Collection Extreme 24 Hour Felt Tip Liner (formally Collection 2000)

Since trying gel liners I’ve always kind of stuck with them. You find a product you like that works and it becomes the only thing you reach for. But recently I’ve seen so many tutorials on YouTube using Felt Tip Liners I really wanted to see if they were any good. Surely a pen would be easier than a brush and would also save time on application?

Today while in Superdrug with their 3 for 2 across cosmetics offer on I was looking for a third product and happened to see the Collection (Formally Collection 2000) Extreme 24 Hour Felt Tip Liner, at such a reasonable price I had to question whether it really would be any good. Here are my thoughts…

A little information straight from the lovely people at Collection….

– Easy-to-apply felt tip nib for all day long lustrous looking eyes.

– The fast-drying versatile felt tipped pens give your makeup look an instant burst of colour.

– Set trends with four intense, high powered hues including purple, blue, teal and black.

*Not suitable for contact lens wearers

The packaging is quite low key and similar to many other felt tip liners on the market. This doesn’t really stand out only my dresser amongst my other liners but is a nice size and comfortable to hold in the hand.

The tip its self looks more ‘chunky’ than it actually is. I guess what you need to remember is you use the tip to draw the line, not half way up. However, you can really build this liner up and make the line as ‘dramatic’ as you choose.

I wear liner on a day to day basis, its how I wear my liner than varies. Most days I run a line close to my lashes to give them more depth. If I’m having a ‘shadowless’ day, I will sometimes do a small wing for a little more glamour. I’m still perfecting my ‘winged’ skills, but found the felt tip liner was really easy to use and you could get precise definition quickly and easily – you just need a steady hand.

My normal day look with a fine line above my upper lashes

My winged look – please note the wing was originally finer, its me being cack handed!

As with 90% of my liners, they are all black. The Extreme 24 Hour Felt Tip Liner is available in 3 other colours though; purple, blue and teal. So it would suit almost all eyes – shame they don’t have a brown. But alas, we can’t have everything.

This liner boasts 24 hour of extremeness (Is that a word?), that suggests to me that it should last a long time. The first thing I noticed on application is that its a fairly wet formula. But, it also dries SUPER FAST! This really surprised me as I thought the liner was still wet but it wasn’t. With regards to smudging, yes it can shift a little if you are rough with it. But if you aren’t an ‘eye rubber’ or hay fever sufferer (Which unfortunately I am!) then you should be ok.

I did get a minimal transfer as I have slightly hooded eyes and my lids were a little greasy from the heat wave we are having (Isn’t it great!). This can be resolved by powdering your lids and I think if you were wearing shadow and primer too, there wouldn’t be an issue.

Over all, this is a great little product. For people on a budget who want a felt tip liner than looks intense in colour (Mine really is a true black), that lasts on your eyes and gives you a dramatic look – this product is for you. At £2.99 I think its an excellent budget product. I will say I don’t think I’ll be trading in my gel liner just yet, this is namely as I prefer the gel formula more, but I would consider after trying this Collection liner trying their Collection Lasting Colour Gel Eyeliner. Collection products for me will always be those little gems in the pharmacy for people who are on a budget. Having said that, I still think their Lasting Perfection Concealer wipes the floor of other concealers including high end for lasting power! Remember people, just because something doesn’t cost very much, it doesn’t mean it won’t be a great product!
