BH Cosmetics X Carli Bybel 14 Color Eyeshadow & Highlighter Palette

Todays post is all about this gorgeous Carli Bybel 14 Colour Eyeshadow & Highlighter Palette collab with BH Cosmetics. If you are a makeup enthusiast or blogger, you will surely have heard of BH Cosmetics. I’ve followed Carli since I first started watching makeup gurus on YouTube (A VERY long time ago) and love her style, so this palette was something I knew I had to own!

Here is a little info about the BH Cosmetics palette…

A 14 piece palette with eyeshadows and highlighters to flatter all skin tones.

With a mix of ten matte and shimmer shadows and four high impact highlighters, Carli Bybel 14 Colour Eyeshadow & Highlighter Palette houses a selection of neutral shades in a white, wipe clean palette. Worn alone or together YouTube sensation Carli Bybel has created the perfect collection of shadows for long lasting day and night looks.

The palette comes in an attractive case with an easily removed lid. There is an outer sleeve so as long as you are using that its good for travelling (Although you could easily remove these shadows and put them in your own magnetic case I’m sure). Inside is a handy clear film overlay attached to the packaging which covers the shadows, its easily  lifted out the way. Plus you have a good size mirror too. The packaging is also wipe clean for those out there who are OCD and like their stuff to be kept looking good too.

The palette contains 10 eyeshadows in matte and shimmer shades so it makes for a versatile palette. Plus you have the 4 larger pan highlighters which you could also use as eyeshadow too. The shades fall in the neutral (taupe, earthy, browns) category with some beautiful plum deeper shades too.

I’ve used this palette twice now and so far been quite impressed. All the shades bar one were minimal to none fall out (The russet brown – middle row 2nd from end gave me some but when I wiped it away with a brush and some translucent powder it vanished). Even in the pans I found they weren’t dusty and weren’t leaving traces of powder there like with some shadows. They are quite buttery, you can see this when you dip into the pans as it leaves brush marks easily. On the skin the eye shadows blend effortlessly. You really don’t have to put a lot of work and get good pay off. All the shades have good pigmentation which is buildable. If I’m honest I did love these shades, for me what was lacking was a truly dark shade. Not necessarily a black but a darker brown matte would have been great to make it my ultimate go to palette. This works great as a day time palette on the eyes and good for evening, but if you want something more dramatic I can see the need for another eye shadows – just because for me, dramatic generally means darker and smokey.

The highlighters are gorgeous! I can’t knock them at all. They blend lovely, are pigmented and obviously buildable. I used a small fan brush on my cheeks and cupids bow and got perfect pay off instantly! On my eyes I used a small flat brush for the inner corners and boy did it highlight! I would say the highlighters are more pigmented than the shadows. Although most the the highlighters bar the lightest one are too dark for me at present, come Summer I can see me mixing it up a lot. Plus I would use these on the eyes too and even on the lips to change the effect of a lipstick.

From a blogging point of view one thing that did surprise me with this palette was that none of the shadows have names or numbers. So, from a tutorial point of view that’s a bit naff if I’m honest. I don’t think BH Cosmetics do that with their palettes, so maybe that’s something they need to consider. Especially as this is a blogger collaboration, it would have been great to have them named – especially with Carli had done that herself.

Over all I’m really impressed. I love the palette and can see me using this a lot. I don’t wear eyeshadow daily as I’m too lazy but I do use highlighter every day. I can see me reaching for this a lot. Considering the palette was £18, I think you get a decent amount for your money. You definitely get quality and their isn’t a shade there I don’t like which I rarely have with palettes!

For now I’ve only got this photo of the palette in action, but I’ll get some more looks up soon on my Instagram showing the beauty of this palette soon. So make sure you follow me there to see what its like.

A simple day time look using the palette. I used the 2 lighter matte shades with the darkest shimmer eyeshade shade in on the eyes. On the cheeks, cupids bow and inner eye I used the lightest highlighter

Now before you go rushing off to buy this be warned. It sold out the same day it went onto the BeautyBay site. I’ve not looked to see if you could get it elsewhere, but I would recommend keeping your eye out for this one as I feel its well worth the money. I’ve paid the same price as the palette before for 2 highlighters! The quality is really good, the colours are lovely and this is a palette that’s going to work when I’m my natural pale or in the Summer when I hit the golden goddess stage (Hey, I can dream!!). Its well worth the money so get saving and add this one to your collection.

The BH Cosmetics Carli Bybel 14 Colour Eyeshadow & Highlighter Palette costs £18.00 and can be purchased when in stock from BeautyBay.com. You can also purchase it from BH Cosmetics for $14.50.

Lots of Love,

Mel xxxx
