Maybelline SuperStay Nail Polish in Pink In The Park

I’ve been having a bit of a pink moment lately on my nails and bought the Maybelline SuperStay 7 day Nail Polish in Pink In The Park, here are my thoughts on the formula and some swatches for you too.

Here is some information Maybelline SuperStay Nail Polish…

Our Maybelline Forever Strong Professional Nail Varnish now has a brand new shade range for the summer season! Step forward our very own pastel shades, perfect for weekend to weekend.

First apply a clear base color to your nails to prevent them from yellowing and make your nail color last longer. Paint the first line of color down the middle of the nail from the base of nail to the tip leaving a small space at the base. Then paint two strips on either side. Let dry before applying a second coat. Finish with a single layer of clear top coat to extend your manicure” Fiona Jolly, Maybelline New York’s Celebrity Make-Up Artist.

Now I’ve not used a SuperStay nail polish in a while, so in honesty couldn’t remember what I thought of it previously (I’ve found 2 shades somewhat forgotten in my ridiculous collection of nail polishes – currently around 300). So, this is like a virgin review on the formula. Firstly I want to talk about the up to 7 days claim. I deliberately didn’t put a top coat on (I always wear a base coat) and found that I got 4 days wear before I started seeing chips and flaking. As with all these long wearing polishes, it depends on the nail base as to how long it will last and application. I wouldn’t expect a nail polish to last anywhere near a week without a top coat and felt 4 days was a good amount of time.

I chose the polish in Pink In The Park. Its a pretty flower pink, pastel shade. Its more of a blue toned pink but not violet or lavender in shade. It really looks feminine on the nails and will look great for weddings too if you don’t want to go the french/american pink and white route.

As with almost all polishes, this is a 2 coat polish to opaque. Its a nice average thickness consistency doesn’t go on lumpy and you can get an even finish quite easily. You could layer this to 3 coats if you applied them thinly if you so wanted. The finish is a high gloss, gel like looks.

As always I have swatched Pink In The Park with both flash and without to give you a good idea of how it looks. For a true visual of the shade, I feel that with flash is quite good. Its a beautiful brighter pink pastel and really will suit most skin tones and again, this is one that looks great with a tan.

Now I do like to change my polish up frequently, but since buying this I have re-applied it 3 times in a row (Thats the same polish for 2 weeks for those of you wondering). I’m not really a pink, girlie girl person and rarely wear something like this on my nails, but the combination of shade of the polish, how it lasts and the beautiful glossy finish has really sold me. This has been my number 1 favourite polish through Summer and I thoroughly recommend it!

The Maybelline SuperStay Nail Polish in Pink In The Park costs £4.49 and is available from Boots, Superdrug and some Supermarkets – if you look around you will often find it on offer for 3 for 2 in Boots and Buy 1, get 2nd Half Price at Superdrug.
