Sheer Cover Studio Deluxe VIP Kit in Tan

Today I have a rather exciting range to share with you and it all comes in one kit, let me introduce the Sheer Cover Studio Deluxe VIP Kit and show you what it can do for your makeup routine.

Now I have tried mineral makeup kits before. I find the coverage is usually good, but I find it feels a little heavy. My skin looks flawless when I wear them which is great, but I always feel like I’ve layered on too much product, almost as if its cakey but doesn’t appear that way. That was until I tried the Sheer Cover Studio kit with their Trueshade Technology.

Here is a little information about Sheer Cover Studio Mineral Makeup…

Sheer Cover Studio™ minerals are natural, infused with skin-soothing botanicals, sun protection, and anti-aging green tea to protect your skin from premature aging – meaning you won’t find any oils, perfumes, dyes or talc – ensuring it is gentle and not irritating on your skin. Pure mineral pigments lay on top of your skin to provide extraordinary coverage, while mica reflects light to minimise the look of fine lines and give you a sheer, flawless finish. The minerals work with your skin’s natural oils to make imperfections seemingly disappear instantly, without looking thick, “cakey” or dull. The result is a natural look that lasts.

Now the kit I am reviewing today is the Deluxe VIP Kit, however if you want to try all the products in a smaller size and outlay, there same products are available in their Introductory VIP Kit which is priced at £29.99. The only difference between these 2 kits is the product sizes themselves, so you can test them all out and see if you like them.

The Sheer Cover Studio Deluxe VIP Kit is available in 4 shades; Light, Medium, Tan and Dark. The shades adapt to your skin with their Trueshade Technology, but if you are unsure of your colour they have a ‘Shade Guide’ which will help you work out what is best for you. I chose Tan as at present I have quite a heft tan and hate my face looking paler than the result of me. This is actually a perfect match for me.

The kit comes packed with some great products as well…

Perfect Shade® Mineral Foundation (4g)
• Conceal & Brighten Trio (3.7g)
• Sun-kissed Bronzing Minerals (4.5g)
• Lengthening Mascara (8.5ml)
• Lash Extending Fibers (0.5g)

Plus at present they are doing offers where you get 3 brushes included. These brushes also come with the Introductory VIP kit and amount in value to more than what the kit costs!

• Foundation Brush • Concealer Brush • Bronzer Brush
PLUS the Sheer Cover Studio™ Guide to Flawless-Looking Skin

I felt the best way to write this review is do a break down of applying the products, I followed the instructions and tips from the booklet, but it really is quite easy and took me around 5-10 minutes to do it all.

The tools I used were supplied with the kit. They are really lovely brushes and worked well on application. I was surprised by the foundation brush as I have usually been supplied with a kabuki before with this kind of kit, but actually found this one worked a lot better and gave me better coverage without the cakey look or feel.

Firstly you need to make sure your face is cleansed and moisturised and before you start to apply your concealer.

There are 2 shades of concealer in each palette and also a highlighter. I used the darker concealer for my blemishes and the lighter concealer under my eyes. The highlight product (All of these products were cream based) is lovely for under the brows and on the cupids bow. The highlight is quite glossy with a light sparkle, but isn’t glittery, more ‘glossy’. These products gave me light/medium coverage, but I wasn’t worried as I knew the powder would give the additional coverage I would need for a flawless finish.

Over all, the products felt very moisturising but not ‘greasy’ or ‘oily’. I used the concealer brush for spot coverage and my fingers for under my eyes. I also used my fingers for the highlight on my brow and cupid bow.

Step 2 is about applying the mineral foundation. You literally tip some in the lid and the load the brush by giving it a swizzle around (I then tap off any excess). Then using a circular motion apply the foundation to the face. You can really build this up.

I applied a light covering to my whole face and then went over areas I wanted more coverage. What I really loved about the Perfect Shade Mineral Foundation was how it wasn’t flat and matte. My skin looked brighter, fresh and glowing. It does have a slight sparkle to the product but not a glitter. It really is just to brighten your skin. There’s good buildable coverage and not once did I feel cakey.

Step 3 is about adding some shape back into your face with the Sun-Kissed Bronzing Minerals. All 3 of these products have a some shimmer. However, the deeper brown shade is what I used to contour and it was perfect. It didn’t look too sparkly at all. I then used a mixture of the 3 across my cheeks to give me a bit of a glow and lastly a light brush of the highlighting shade over my cheek bones. I also applied a small amount to my cupids bow and down my nose.

As my hands are so tanned it was hard to get a good picture for the swatch. The deeper brown shade is really lovely but I admit I would have liked it slightly darker. These also work well as eye shadows for a subtle look and to add some definition.

So 3 steps (4 if you include moisturising) and your base/contouring/bronzing is all done! The instructions booklet is really great as it gives some tips as well as good clear instructions on how to apply the Sheer Cover Studio products. The coverage is natural looking, glowing skin. My blemishes were concealed and I didn’t feel like I had on too much makeup. My skin didn’t feel cakey and it glowed! I loved the finish of these products.

What I thought was a great addition to this kit which I haven’t seen in any other kits of this type is the Lengthening Mascara (In Black) and the Lash Extending Fibres. Being the mascara junkie I am I was super excited to try these 2 products!

If you are unfamiliar with this kind of system, its easier than it looks. I recommend doing 1 eye at a time. Firstly apply a coat of the mascara too your lashes (Curl then first if you wish). Then while the mascara is still wet (It needs to be wet for the last fibres to adhere) apply a light coat of the fibres (*Tip – only apply the fibres to the mid-lengths and ends of your lashes. Applying from the root usually means an eye full of fibres and that is uncomfortable!). Then you need to seal those lash fibres with another coat of mascara. That’s it, long luscious lashes and you really can see a difference!

I found this mascara really lasted well on  my eyes, it didn’t flake or give me panda eyes. I loved the length I got on my lashes and felt it didn’t look too much. If you want something more natural, the mascara on its own looks really good!

The results, a breathable full coverage look. It looks natural, feels good and doesn't look cakey - plus it lasts!

Over all, I’ve loved trying out this system and am going to do a ‘get ready with me’ shortly using it so I can show how easy it is. I think kits like this can look daunting, but they really aren’t. It is just different to how many of us applying out makeup (Foundation, powder, bronzer etc – usually in that order), but the results in my opinion are better!

Sheer Cover Studio Deluxe VIP Kit and Introductory Kits are available directly from Sheer Cover Studio. Prices start at £29.99 for the Introductory Kit. They also offer a 60 day money back guarantee.
