FOTD: Currently Summer Daily Makeup Routine
I don’t always wear makeup in the Summer, in fact if I’m sunbathing I won’t wear any at all! When I am off out though or fancy it I have a simple go to look which I love. Today I thought I’d share it with you and the products I use to create it.
The look is quite natural with a coloured lip and a hint of a defined smokey eye. In total it takes me about 5 minutes to do, so really quite and easy and looks pretty flawless too (Bar the 2 mammoth spots I have on my chin – please ignore them!). I’ll admit there are a lot of products but your skin also feels like it can ‘breathe’ after and doesn’t look like you are wearing as much.
Base: My base is a foundation I don’t often reach for I’ll be honest as its not one of my favourites, however I’ve found for Summer its a lovely finished foundation which feels light on my skin – Rimmel Wake Me Up Foundation in Classic Beige (Review Here).
Concealer: I’m not actually wearing any concealer at all to conceal blemishes. However, I do have some Benefit Ooh La Lift on under my eyes to help with some dark circles.
Brows: My brows are defined with just a clear mascara, todays one was the MUA clear mascara which I find is pretty good at keeping my brows in shape throughout the day and only £1!
Primer (Eyes): I always apply a primer on my eyes when I am applying anything onto them, I do get oily eye lids and find my eye makeup (Including liner) shifts otherwise. MUA Make Up Academy do a great Eye Primer which really is a little bargain! Its £2.50 and it really does help with making your eye make up last longer.
Liner: I have been obsessed about using liners for over 2 months now, most days you’ll see me sporting a defined lash line in some shape or form. I used Collection Extreme 24 Hour Felt Tip Liner (formally Collection 2000) in black. I drew a ultra fine line against my lashes, gently winging it out at the side. This is more for definition than an actual winged effect.
Eyeshadow: I only use 2 on my eyes, 1 is a skin toned colour and today I just used some random face powder. Then over the top I blended into my crease a very small amount of black from a Sleek palette (Its just a matt black shadow) and built it up just to give definition to my socket area and a slight smokey look.
Mascara: There’s only 1 I really reach for at present which I reviewed recently, Max Factor False Lash Fusion Effect Mascara (Review Here) in black. 2 generous coats to the top lashes and 1 to the bottom. Great definition, long lasting without flaking – I love this mascara!
Cheeks & Contour: On my cheeks I am wearing FratBoy Blush from theBalm (Its probably one of my most used blushers). I only apply a small amount of this just to give a hint of warmth and nothing else. I swear by my Sleek Contour Kit in light and use this whenever I am contouring. I use the contour colour just below my cheekbones and then drag this upwards onto my cheek slightly so to soften the line. It gives a gorgeous ‘glow’.
Bronzer: I admit I’m a bronzer addict, the one I’ve been using for a few days now which I will be reviewing for you shortly (Its really good!) is the Living Nature Summer Bronze pressed powder. I use this on areas that the sun natural attract and just enhance them.
Lips: Finally my lips which are always done last. I have only 1 go to lipstick at present which I am wearing to death, I also put the review up today on my blog of it. Many of you I’m sure haven’t heard of Living Nature but they are a fabulous company – you should check them out. Living Nature’s lipstick in Summer Rain (Review Here) is a gorgeous dusky pink lipstick, its a cream shade so there’s no shimmer or anything but very moisturising on the lips – perfect for the Summer when your lips may feel a little dryer!
The finished look is one I just find is really easy to wear and more than enough for day time usage wherever I’m going. The products used are quite varied too in price so its easily recreated. Granted I could have used some high-end products to create it, but why bother when I find this make up look lasts as good as the high end ones at a fraction of the price!
So, there you have it my Face of the Day and a type of post I’ve not done in ages. Maybe I’ll start doing a few more of them again.
Have you a go to summer makeup?
Lots of Love,
Mel xxxx
