NOTD: OPI Nicki Minaj Minis Nail Varnish Collection
I wasn’t going to include these in my Nail Of The Day posts as I feel they have been done to death! However, I really like some of the colours and thought I’d still share with you how they look swatched on my nails and what I thought of the collection.
When I first got the collection I hadn’t seen any swatches (AMAZINGLY – Although probably because I purposely didn’t look at any) and was drawn to Pink Friday. I really liked the look of the baby pink opaque colour (No shimmer). When I swatched them though my opinion soon changed!
Did It On ‘Em is a line yellow/green opaque coloured (No shimmer) polish. The colour is really hard to capture on camera although this is pretty accurate (Taken with my iPhone 4 as the SLR kept making it look too yellow!!). This is my favourite polish of the whole collection. I love the vibrantness and ‘in your face’ shock factor it has. I will continue to wear this colour and can see me buying the full size of it.
Fly is a opaque teal green and impossible to get a good shot of with any camera I own. Everything comes out too blue or too green but not the mix of the 2. It is very similar in colour too Moody Model by H&M. This was the favourite of 2 of my daughters as they love this kind of bright sea green colour.
Pink Friday is a pretty Barbie opaque pink (No shimmer). This is the colour I can’t help but associate with Nicki Minaj! In the bottle I honestly thought it would be my favourite but on application I was a little disappointed – I can’t honestly say why. The colour is nice and pretty and my daughter (The youngest one) absolutely loved it, I would say its my second favourite but because I love Did It On ‘Em so much its hard to compare anything as a second favourite.
Metallic 4 Life is a glitter fest! Silver glitter particles in a transparent black/grey toned gloss. I have applied 2 coats in this picture so the glitter almost appears solid. If you apply this polish to any other polish you will end up with a darker shade polish with sparkles. This is probably the most disappointing of all the colours. I am not really a sparkly nail varnish person though which should explain it.
I really love the mini collections from OPI and have several now. I find they are pretty good when it comes to value as I rarely finish a polish completely before I replace and bin it – I like them too be fresh and find the more use and opening the more they lose that nice formula and end up going off!
My only jibe with this collection which I have not had with OPI nail varnishes before was that all 3 of the solid colours (Pink Friday, Fly and Did It On ‘Em) needed 3 coats. Unless I am using an extremely light colour I’ve never needed 3 coats.
I bought my OPI Nicki Minaj Minis Collection from £11.95 from Amazon. The price seems to vary £1-£2 online but its all around that kind of price.
Have you a favourite Nicki polish?
Lots of Love,
Mel xxxx
